Power 90 – Day 2
I’m a day late posting this update, but I did do my Day 2 workout for Power 90 yesterday.
Day 2 in Power 90 is called Sweat 1-2 followed by Ab Ripper 100.
Basically it’s a fat burning workout which includes a combination of stretching, Yoga, warm up, higher pace cardio like jumping jacks and run lunges, combined with some kicking and punching.
The total workout lasts 35minutes, and then you finish up with about 4 minutes of rapid fire ab exercises.
A lot of the moves from Sweat 1-2 I recognize from P90X except that they are less intense than P90X. What I noticed though is that even though they are less intense, I was totally tanking during these exercises.
Meaning, I had very little strength to do them. Part of that I think is because I still hadn’t fully recovered from Day 1, combined with going to bed really late on Monday night (like 4am), combined with not eating enough calories on Monday as well.
I knew going into the workout that I was low on energy but I just set a goal to do my best and I did that. I felt great doing the workout, although by the time I finished doing the Ab Ripper 100 I was screaming at the TV saying “Make it stop! Make it stop!”
I have always had a love/hate relationship with ab exercises. I love the feeling of working on my abs really hard, until they burn like crazy but then when you do your last rep and collapse there is that 2-3 seconds of burning where I just want to yell at Tony Horton “Stop it, it hurts!!!”
But then, after 2-3 seconds the pain disappears and I love the feeling you get the next day of having tighter, stronger abs.
Maybe I’m weird, but I kind of like that next-day soreness in my muscles after a hard workout. It makes me feel like I did something, and I know my muscles are growing!
I really liked parts 4 and 5 of the workout, which is the kicking and punching because it’s related to martial arts. On the P90X program, the Kenpo X DVD was one of my favorites, so I’m really happy to see these moves in the Power 90 program as well.
I’m really falling in love with this program!
I know that P90X is way more advertised, promoted and pushed by Beachbody, but the Power 90 program is really good as well! For people who aren’t already in great shape, or who don’t have 60-90minutes every day to devote to P90X, I would even say it’s better than P90X.
After my workout, I had a pretty healthy, but calorie rich meal as my body was telling me it needed that, and I also went to bed at like 7pm and caught up on about 5 hours of sleep before waking up, doing some Blogging and going back to bed. That way I had two 5 hour sleep sessions for a total of 10 hours of sleep since yesterday AND I got a bunch of work done from midnight until around 4am, which was great.
Tonight it’s Day 3 time again. I’m actually excited and can’t wait to do the workout.
In case you’re wondering why I have a picture of Kobe and Zoe here, every time I put up a picture of Zoe in any of my Blog posts I always get people saying they want to see more pics of her, and a few people have asked for me to put more pictures of Kobe on my Blog as well.
Since they are a big part of my life and they make an appearance in my Blog header, I figure I’ll just post random pictures of them from time to time just for fun.
This picture was take about a year ago. I finally got the two of them to sit still enough to take a picture. Notice, however, that Zoe defiantly is holding the leash in her mouth just to make sure we all know that she’s the boss.

Congrats on starting on P90 program.
It’s always better to sweat rather not.

Stick with it Paul. I’m not a big fan of the slogan “no pain no gain.” Always listen to your body, if it hurts too much stop. A little discomfort is good, but too much pain is a bad thing.
It sounds like you are getting plenty of rest and staying on top of your nutrition, keep up the good work.
It seem like a really good thing to try. I also want to work out but don’t know where to start maybe this thing what I need =)
