Body Transformation Challenge – Day 7
So it’s been a week since I started the body transformation challenge with Nima.
Last week at this time I weighed 216.6 lbs and as of this morning I weighed in at 210.4 lbs. That’s a weight loss of 6.2 lbs in the first week.
Of course I don’t anticipate maintaining that kind of weight loss every week. It wouldn’t be healthy, and it wouldn’t be coming from fat loss either.
The reason why I experienced such a rapid weight loss is because my body shed some water, toxins, and salts with some fat loss, but it’s not all from fat.
The specific diet I am following that Debby introduced me to will remain somewhat of a secret for now, because I don’t want to reveal it just yet since I’ve got this competition with Nima.
I do plan on continuing to post pictures of my food though, so you can get a general sense of what I’m eating but I’m not ready to reveal the exact plan I’m following yet.
I can tell you that it is not your typical low-fat, or low-protein, or low-carb, or alkalarian diet. It’s a very targeted diet specifically designed to cut fat while preserving lean muscle.
I will say, since it’s not any big secret that I’ve cut out junk food like pop, chocolate bars, chips, and any of that kind of crap.
My beverage of choice now is water with a squirt of lemon.
Food
For lunch today I had a salad similar to the ones I made the last few days. I was at my sister’s house and I didn’t bring my camera to take a pictures, but I’m sure you can imagine what it looked like from previous days pics.
For dinner I decided to make something a bit more substantial as I did a pretty heavy leg workout today both helping my Mom move this morning, as well as a strength training session on my legs this evening.
What I did is I baked some veggies – Broccollini, Cauliflower, Zuchini, Red Bell Pepper – with some coconut oil, garlic and a bit of Bragg Aminos.

Grilled Veggies
While the veggies were baking, I grilled up two chicken breasts on my grill. These were totally plain, with no marinade or anything on them.
Once they were fully cooked on the grill, I transferred the chicken breast into the same pan as the veggies.

I then poured half a cup of marinara sauce overtop of each chicken breast, as well as about a half cup of grated cheese. I don’t know why, but the amount of cheese in the picture looks like way more than there actually was.

Grilled Veggies, Chicken, Sauce and Cheese
I then threw the dish back into the oven for about 5 minutes just to melt the cheese.

I then ate half and saved the other half for tomorrow.

It was really good. It was by far the best tasting meal I’ve had since I started this diet.
Progress
I’ve already mentioned some of my progress earlier, having lost 6.2lbs so far in the first week. Nima has accomplished around the same, losing about 6lbs so far. I’m doing way better in the first week of this competition than the one I had with Tyler Cruz. In that competition I slacked off for almost 4 weeks and then had to lose 15lbs in the last 35 days.
This time it’s different though.
I’m building a plan with Debby that will help me to shed my fat jacket first, while also building up my strength and chiseling my body from underneath the fat. I’m looking at this as a long term thing.
The 8 week competition with Nima is fun, but I want to do this long term and not just for the 8 weeks.
By the way, if you pop over to Nima’s Blog, he’s been talking a lot about getting rid of sugar cravings and going through sugar withdrawl. He’s never done a complete no sugar plan before like I have, so he’s experiencing it for the first time.
I can tell you guys right now that the first time getting “off” of sugar is crazy. It has been proven in lab rats that sugar addiction is stronger than cocaine addiction. Nobody ever believes that until they try it for themselves.
Most people who I talk to about sugar addiction end up saying “It’s not that hard cutting out sugar. I hardly eat any sugar anymore. I can’t remember the last time I had a chocolate bar or candy.“, but they don’t realize that refined sugar is not just in candy and chocolate. It’s hidden in so many foods it’s crazy. There is refined sugar in their bread, their orange juice, their cereal, their muffins, their bagels, their pasta, their white rice, etc.
What most people do is they cut out one type of sugar because they label it bad, such as drinking pop and then they start drinking something else with sugar like orange juice or fruit juice or something else, not realizing that most fruit juices out there have more sugar per ounce than Coke. Or they drink water, but they just end up getting their sugar from bread. If it’s not breads, they get it from pastas or some other forms of refined sugar or white flour.
If anyone’s interested I can write more on this topic, such as for example what to expect when getting “off” of sugar.

I’m offended I wasn’t invited for dinner. That looks delicious.
.-= Nima´s last blog ..End of Day 5– What happens to you when you eat Simple Carbohydrates =-.
I invented the recipe on the fly and I had no idea how it was going to taste until I sat down to eat it. Honestly, I was super excited and super surprised that it tasted as good as it did. As you know, my wife is the cook in the family not me, but I’m getting better.
Hi Pauly,
Keep up the good work. We’re right on track. You are quite resourceful with the meal preparation. If I were closer I would be coming over to dinner to join you. In the meantime I’ll be sending over some new recipes for you to try which no doubt will have Nima watering at the mouth!
wow it looks great, i`ll try to do this, its really will be delicious
