Body Transformation Challenge – Day 3
Day 3 of my Body Transformation Challenge went a lot better than Day 2, in that I didn’t have a massive headache like I did on Day 2 screwing up my day.
I was pleasantly surprised to wake up, and weigh myself in at 212lbs. That’s a 4.6lbs weight loss from my starting weight.
Now, I know that isn’t all fat loss. I am sure a part of that is due to water loss with my body flushing out some of the toxins I’ve accumulated over the years eating the Standard “American” Diet (SAD for short).
Food
Before I jump into talking about my “Secret Weapon”, here’s a few pictures of what I had to eat on Day 3.
For lunch I made a salad with tenderloin steak. The salad had greens, avacado, dried blueberries/cranberries, ground flax seed, a little bit of feta cheese and some white balsamic vinegar dressing.
For Dinner I had baked zuchini / broccollini, houmus, tzatziki and a pita.
Ok, enough about food. Let’s jump into something more interesting.
My Secret Weapon
In my post yesterday I mentioned that Nima has hired himself a personal trainer as a secret weapon for the challenge.
He never mentioned hiring a personal trainer at any time during our plans for this competition. He’s probably been scheming this thing up for weeks.
Either way, it doesn’t make any difference because almost as if by some magical force ( oh no, could law of attraction actually work? ), on Day 1 of our competition I made a new friend named Debby Kaplan.
Debby found me online while doing some searches on Kajabi, of all things, and connected with me on Facebook.
Interestingly enough, Debby is an personal trainer.
She’s a lifelong champion athlete, fitness freak and former host of a popular fitness segment on ABC Channel 7 News in San Francisco.
She’s got a laundry list of certifications (ACSM, AAHF, Reebok etc.) as well as achievements in multi – sport events (half Ironman triathalons and marathon etc.), but really all you need to know about Debby’s qualifications can be summarized by this picture of her taken earlier this year.
Take a guess how old she is.
Working With Debby
After initially connecting with Debby on Facebook, we started emailing back and forth and jumped on some calls to get to know each other.
We hit it off right away, as we have very similar beliefs on health, nutrition and life in general as well. Debby’s also a scanner and she’s very intuitive.
The one big difference between our beliefs is that Deb believes in taking care of her body and has done so all of her life, while I pretty much have been taking mine for granted up until now.
That difference in beliefs, along with her intuition and ability to challenge me and call me on my “BS” are some of the reasons I’ve decided to hire Deb as my personal trainer.
We’re currently working out the details of my new diet and workout program, and I’m really excited and scared shitless at the same time.
Debby takes her training very seriously and as I’ve been learning already, some of the foods that I’ve been calling “pretty healthy” she’s pretty much told me to flush down the toilet.
She has started sharing with me some more advanced fat loss / muscle gain nutrition plans she uses and I must say they are pretty impressive. I have diplomas in advanced nutrition and actually got my Certified Sports Nutrition Consultant diploma a few years ago, but the stuff she’s been sharing with me is super nifty Ninja stuff I’ve never heard of before.
Being able to connect with someone like Debby is exactly why I love the Internet and exactly why I love Blogging.
What’s really interesting too is that Debby didn’t find me because of any fitness related Blog content. She found my blog searching for Kajabi which is “how to make money online” related content.
Once again it demonstrates the power of building one multi-topic Blog instead of splitting your efforts across multiple single-topic blogs like I used to do prior to launching Paulymath.com.
If you want to find out more about Debby, you can check out her current site at BodyFlexFit.com. I am also helping her with the launch of her new site and Blog which is going to have all kinds of yummy health and fitness tips. I’ll let you guys know as soon as it’s launched.
In the meantime, be afraid Nima…. be very afraid.
Oh yeah, you can check out my Body Transformation page for latest stats and pics.

Remember Pauly,
Get plenty of rest, so all of those cells in your body will be shaking their little booties with rip roaring energy, ready to propel you to the next level.
tenderloin steak must be so yummy…
Well from just looking at Deb I would have to say that her age is …..well actually I wouldn’t guess her age because she looks like she could really jack someone up lol. Maybe she is the canadian version of Jillian Michaels (lady from the Biggest Loser). Oh on a side not you sooooooo have to get a pic of her bench pressing you at the end of the challenge ofcourse (because you will be lighter and this will be easier to do). That steak also looks super tasty but I was always under the impression that red meat is bad for you because it basically rots in your stomach, that is unless you plan on running a marathon or something
Glad to see your fighting fire with fire Pauly
GO TEAM PAULY!!!
Whether red meat, or any meat for that matter is bad for you is debatable. In the past, such as during my Tyler Cruz competition, I have gone vegetarian for a while but I’m not doing that right now for this diet.
I am still going to consume it on my current diet, although I plan on only eating it once or twice a week max (this week was not a good example) and also I’m now going to only consume grass fed organic beef.
Ooh… I’m shaking in my boots, Paul. Debby, I’m so glad you’re on board. If I have to look at Paul’s “After” photos and see what I saw in the disturbing “before” photos… I think I will vomit in my own mouth. Just keep him away from the soft drink vending machines. He keeps the recycling depot here in business.

Vomit in your own mouth eh? Quit stealing my lines Nima you unoriginal bastard. That’s my line!
Hi guys and gals,
I just touched back here and noticed a bit of verbal sparring. I love it when the competition gets intense.
OK, let’s clarify a few things here. We’ll start with the meat. Grass fed organic meat provides the much needed saturated fats for you body to function. It provided the Omega 3 oils. It will provide the protein and fats needed for Paul to kick butt in his workouts. And if I make my way North to your digs up their in Canada, Paul will be benching me on a bad day! Paul will have his bad ass bod when I get through with him. And BTW: we are not rushing these things. No such thing as quick fix to fat loss.
Which brings me to my next point: Thank god I’m not Jillian Michaels. Nobody should have to endure the verbal abuse she throws down her clients throats. I’m more about massaging my clients minds so they can make changes on their own terms. I open up doors and have them take a peak inside, test out the waters. See if it works. I gather the ‘secret weapons of fat destruction’ and dispense them systematically. Paul has made tremendous strides.
Now, As far as the vending machine recycling program I would bet that he’s winning that race with the bottled water returns. Personally I prefer people to use the same bottle over and over to put less stress on the environment.
AS for benching my client I’m not so sure that would be great for my shoulders at this time. Now, I’m not saying this is due to my age. As more than one person has made the comment, as you put it ‘ jack someone up’! . But back in the day my max was 144 for more than 3 rep, or was it ?. Can’t remember. Hmmm…could be my age. But like I said, that was years ago when I was……..Oh, well, let’s move beyond my age. Let’s just say I have LOTS of experience.
What would be a much better workout would be to piggyback Paul up a hill. And if I make my way North for a congratulatory celebration in several months from now, maybe we’ll have you all come over for a show of strength. Our own Highland Games!
Hey, didn’t you think that blueberry organic ice cream looked yummy?
