Body Transformation Challenge – Day 2
Well, the Body Transformation Challenge is now well under way.
I’m still scrambling to get everything setup and organized but that was to be expected. Nima and I only had a few days to plan this challenge, and we wanted to launch it as soon as possible. If we waited until both of us had everything prepared before starting we wouldn’t be starting for another month.
I’m going to try to do my daily blog updates at the end of each day before going to bed or the following morning. That way I can report on what happened on a specific day after the day is over and not in the middle of the day. That is why it is actually day 3 in the challenge as I write this but I’m writing the report for Day 2.
Rough Start
Monday
I officially started the challenge as of noon on Monday (Oct 18th), but I really didn’t have much prepared in terms of a diet plan or anything like that. On Monday evening I went to Costco to pickup some groceries for my empty fridge. Sometimes Costco has some really nice veggies at really good prices in bulk. Considering the amount of fruits and veggies I plan on eating, Costco was the natural choice as a starting point.
Because I didn’t have my food planned out prior to my start on Monday this meant that I couldn’t eat anything (healthy) until after I got back home from Costco. It was very tempting to swing by McDonald’s and pickup one of their salad’s, and justify that it must be good for me since it’s a salad. However, I decided that anything sold at the golden arches shouldn’t be part of my plan.
Costco also has really cheap hotdogs with a large pop for like $1.99, but once again I refrained from eating crap on my first day.
Instead, I waited until I got home, put away the groceries and made myself this meal:
It’s the fastest meal I could come up with since it was already pretty late when I got home and unpacked everything. I remembered that my rice cooker has a steaming basket on top which I used to lightly steam the broccollini, and the cauliflower while I cooked the brown rice. I only added the veggies into the rice cooker for a few minutes near the end so as not to overcook them. The chicken breast was prepared using my Delicious Chicken Breast in Under 15 Minutes recipe.
The chicken breast and veggies were delicious. The brown rice – not so much. I burned it a little bit and it turned crunchy on me. I’ll get better at it.
Tuesday
Tuesday was Day2 of the challenge and I woke up with a bad headache in the morning.
I believe it is from something that happened to me on Sunday. I was helping my Mom move and due to a mis-communication with my brother I almost had a wooden cabinet fall on me. I don’t know if was my quick Ninja reflexes or a Guardian Angel or something pushing me out of the way, but I moved out of the way just in time to avoid being hit in the head.
The cabinet brushed my clothes as it slammed to the ground, missing my body, but I believe for a split second I must have really tensed up my muscles which I believe to have been the cause of my headache yesterday. I had a similar headache a few months ago when I avoided a car accident, but ended up with a neck muscle tension headache for the next two days.
At first I thought the headache may have been from sugar withdrawl since I’ve cut out all sugar from my diet, but it wasn’t like any other headache I had from sugar withdrawl before.
By mid afternoon the headache got really bad and I felt like throwing up, so I went to lie down, did some self-Reiki healing and ended up sleeping for a few hours.
I woke up a few hours later and felt much better. I wasn’t sure if I would feel nauseated if I ate, so I had a small bowl of oatmeal to start.
In the evening I made this to eat:
I had leftover chicken breast from Monday which I warmed up and ate with my salad.
Exercise
For exercise, so far I’ve just started doing a bit of running on my treadmill. I did a 30 minute run on Monday, running 2.77kms and a 30 minute run on Tuesday, running 2.82kms.
I mostly just did the runs as a way to wake up my body and get it used to movement and exercise for when I fully implement my exercise routine which will definitely involve more strength training, rather than just cardio.
Progress
As of Oct 19th, my weight has dropped to 213.8 and my BF% down to 27.3.
That’s a net difference of 2.8lbs weight loss and BF% loss of 1%.
Of course I’m not expecting my weight to continue dropping at this pace. I’m pretty sure the big drop in one day is due to the fact that I did not eat much yesterday due to my nausea. It really sucked having that headache, especially since I hardly ever get headaches, but on the bright side it did help me to contribute to a quick start in the competition.
Body Transformation Page
I have also setup a separate page on my site where I will be logging my weight and my pictures. My goal it to take pics daily and post them on the site.
Check out my Body Transformation Page here.
Nima’s Progress
So far Nima’s being somewhat secretive with his progress. He hasn’t posted any weight updates yet, but he has revealed a secret weapon he is using.
Apparently, it turns out that he’s hired himself a personal trainer to whip his body into shape.
You can check out his Day 2 update to see the kinds of crazy hip-hop dance moves his trainer has him doing. He also has to wake up at 5:30am to do his workouts. Hahaha… that must really suck.
This little detail of hiring himself a personal trainer is something Nima conveniently forgot to mention during our pre-contest discussions.
It’s all good though, because I’ve got my own secret weapon up my sleeve.
Stay tuned Nima.

Maybe the headache was from you not eating all day the day before?

.-= Drea´s last blog ..Runes 101 =-.
No, I ate the day before. I started the competition at noon, but prior to noon I had 2 pieces of leftover pizza and my last Coke. It was like my last meal before starting the competition.
There’s no way the headache was due to a lack of calories. I’m pretty sure it was related to my neck because once my neck loosened up, I felt way better.
maybe if you weren’t such an idiot and come in for an adjustment to clear the subluxation that was caused by the stress of entering a competition with me? Please, if you’re subluxated, your stress hormones are higher, and that gives me an unfair advantage. Come in and let me adjust your fat ass.

When this headache came on I was in no condition to get in a car and drive. It was really weird. Doing Reiki on my neck helped out and by the time I woke up it way better.
Thanks for the offer though, I’ll keep it in mind if it happens again. Although my Ninja senses are a little concerned about going in for an adjustment with you while we’re competing. You might just use the opportunity to hypnotize me and feed me cake or something.
I have to admit, your food looks pretty tasty! I don’t really need to lose much, but I’m kind of “skinny fat”. You know what I mean, one of those people that are probably underweight if I were to tell you what I weighed versus how tall I am, but I have a little bit of a gut? I found that simply cutting back on what I eat was enough for me to shed weight pretty quickly. I didn’t even need the exercise too much. I just tried working out in the yard or doing some things around the house that would work up a little bit of a sweat and get my heart rate going. It worked well for me.
Heh wow and the trash talking has already started LOL. I’m glad to see your competition isn’t pulling any punches Pauly. The pics of your “healthy” food looks pretty appealing to be honest
though I would’ve gone with wild rice as opposed to brown rice but I’m sure you just made the meal with what you had at your disposal. Hopefully the Dr formerly known as Nima wont shy you away from sharing your excercise and dieting plans with your support group. GO TEAM PAULY!!!!
