I think you're absolutely right about that, Paul. Overthinking can be the enemy. Do you remember Al Franken's character, Stuart Smalley? Back in the day he put out a faux guided visualization tape in character, and the joke was that Stuart Smalley had taken a solemn vow not to edit, because he was a perfectionist, and that was okay, he was owning the problem.

So the tape has all of the "mistakes" left in, it starts over at times, there are arguments with the producer, etc, and no edits. Its funny stuff!

I think your approach to weight loss is not an advisible one. Yes you may lose a lot of weight right away, but you will not be able to keep up your drastic change in lifestyle. 87% of people who undergo rapid weight loss gain it all back within 2 years. The result is an unhealthy yo-yo effect in your weight that puts stress on your body's balanced systems.

I encourage you to ask your friends who have followed rapid weight loss programs - did they gain the weight back? Have they adopted a healthier lifestyle 2,3 or 4 years later?

Put in the hard work Paul, don't go for the quick fix. Slow and steady wins the race. Good luck.

Thanks Paul! I'm also a scanner and have found most systems don't suit me. This book sounds great - will check it out!

I still think you should get a treadmill desk. You talk about time management, that is it: You can exercise and work at the same time!

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

@Lisa: I haven't been to a "traditional" doctor in 15 years. I wouldn't go to a regular doctor or consult with a regular doctor on the topic of nutrition because they are completely unqualified in that respect. Almost all M.D.'s have absolutely minimal or no training at all in proper nutrition. Most having taken less than 4hours of nutrition training while earning their degrees. The crazy thing is that with my 2 years of schooling in nutrition I'm more qualified to talk about nutrition than any regular doctor I could go see, and I still consider myself a total noob on the subject even after years of studying. When I first learned how little training doctors have in nutrition I was completely shocked.

If I went to a regular doctor and asked for a blood test to determine what I need to change in my diet to be healthy, they would probably look at me like I've got three heads. Even if they did the test, my understanding is that regular blood tests such as the CBC etc. are "quantitative" tests which just tell you the quantity of things like red blood cells, white blood cells, cholesterol etc. in your blood, but they do nothing to determine the "quality" of the blood in it's natural/alive state.

I'll know more after I do the Live Blood test. If I still feel like there is missing information maybe I'll consider getting other tests done, but I doubt that will be the case. Some of the sample reports I've seen are absolutely amazing in detail.

@Jonathan: LOL. That's really funny because I was SO tired when I filmed this show that to me it really sounded slow, especially in the beginning.

This was such a hard show for me to make. It was even tougher than the first one. I'm not sure what it was, but I definitely had some kind of mental block getting it out there. I procrastinated it for days, writing and rewriting mind-maps for what I wanted to cover in the show, and finally yesterday I just turned the camera on and started rolling. I did a couple of intro takes and then did a 40 minute version which was ALL over the place, and then recorded the 28 minute version which I published. I was happy with it at the end and had a huge sense of relief having had it done. The only part that I personally didn't like is the very first few words I say. They sounded so tired to me. :)

I think for future shows I'm not going to put myself through the torture of over-thinking them or trying to improve on them. I think I'll just turn on the camera and go and I bet I'll improve automatically over time.

Good job on the second show, Paul!

I noticed your speach seemed a lot more natural this time around, was really good. You seemd really at ease. It seemed like you were thinking less, and just talking.

I think maybe you could benefit from being a just a tad mor concise, but overall you held my attention. Good job!

Live blood analysis is an interesting concept. I look forward to this post greatly. I would be interested to see how it compares to the more traditional medical model types of blood analysis such as a CBC (complete blood count), or a CX3 or lipid profile, or other types of traditional blood analysis. Any chance of having both a live blood analysis and some traditional types of blood work that a family doctor might do? I think it would be super interesting to compare both types of medicine (and their outlook on your blood). I could see a lot of people being interested in this stuff.

Oh, okay. I thought so! It does seem like a pretty special area of blood analysis. I just found a naturopathic doctor that is about 20 miles from me. I wish I could get the analysis, but I don't think it would be a good choice for me right now. I'm on a bunch of harmful medications, that could really scare me if I were to check my live blood. Hahaha.

I am thrilled for you, though! I can't wait for the next episode, and I hope the analysis isn't too scary. And I also hope that you can stick with this system for over a month time, and end the vicious time management cycle. I will read the book, and I will let you know how it goes for me as well!

Thanks again,
Josh Lipovetsky.
