Choosing the Right Divination Method for Your Psychic Development
Choosing the right divination method is of paramount importance to your psychic development as a beginner.
Near the end of 2008 I found a psychic development course created by Andrea Hess, called Soul Realignment™. I was drawn to the course after getting a Soul Realignment™ reading from Anna Conlan which I really liked. The reading was very in-depth and just the possibility of being able to do readings like that for people got me very excited.
I purchased the course and was super excited to dive in. However, after getting into the course materials and learning all the theory and background on the Soul Realignment™ modality itself, it came time to learn to actually do the readings themselves. That’s when I ran into trouble.
The course uses a dowsing method using a pendulum to divine the information for the readings. Prior to taking this course I have never used a pendulum or dowsing of any kind, but I was excited and optimistic to give it a try.
Discovering Dowsing
I bought a pendulum, cleared it and programmed it. I then tried using it to do the readings for my practice clients, but immediately ran into challenges.
What would happen is I would try to ask a question and then would wait for the pendulum to swing in the predetermined manner which would indicate a Yes or No answer to the question. For example, I may ask “Does this person have 6 spirit guides?” and then wait to see what the pendulum would do.
At first things were going along ok, and I was going through all the questions and just writing down the answers that the pendulum would show me, but after a while I started to notice something. I started to notice that when I would ask a question, an answer would king of just pop into my mind and then the pendulum would swing in accordance with that answer.
For example, I would ask “Does this person have 6 spirit guides?” and in my mind I would hear “Yes” immediately. Then I would wait a few seconds and watch the pendulum indicate “Yes” as well. That’s when I started wondering if the pendulum was simply just indicating exactly what’s in my mind, and if so then how do I know if my mind is actually accurate?
I sat there for a minute and then I asked myself the question “Does this person have 6 spirit guides?” and I would instantly get a “Yes” in my mind and the pendulum would start to show a “Yes” as well, but then as soon as I thought to myself “No” the pendulum would start showing me a “No” as well! This frustrated me because all I had to do is just think of an answer like “Yes” or “No” and the pendulum would just swing whichever way my mind was directing it to.
Of course this was happening while I was trying to hold the pendulum perfectly still. I wasn’t trying to make it spin to indicate a “Yes” or “No”, it was just doing it automatically (subconsciously) as I thought of each word.
This put a big dent in my confidence in terms of the accuracy of the information I was getting with the method. I tried to figure out a way to get around the problem, but at the same time I was also going through a career change which involved leaving my job and focusing on running my own business. So I decided to focus on that instead and I put my psychic development on the back-burner.
Discovering Why Dowsing Didn’t Work For Me
Throughout 2009 I got to know a number of professional psychics and I was always amazed at their ability to divine information. What was really cool was that each of them used a totally different method.
A year later I was once again drawn to pursue developing my psychic abilities and I started looking around at different options. I wanted to see if I could find a way I could develop my intuitive abilities without the use of a pendulum as a divination method.
Near the end of 2009 I started working with Chris Landry and during one of my readings with him I asked him to ask my Spirit Guides why I had so much trouble communicating with them using a pendulum. He immediately told me that for me a pendulum is not the best divination method because it’s way too slow.
Out of the four psychic senses (Clairvoyance, Clairaudience, Clairsentience and Claircognizance) my most developed one is Claircognizance. Claircognizance is when you “just know” something without seeing, hearing or feeling it.
It’s been with me for as long as I can remember, but I just never really realized or labeled it as a “psychic sense” because the information just “appeared” in my head out of nowhere and I just thought everyone has the same thing happen to them.
It was only during a few life threatening situations in my life and in a few one-on-one coaching sessions I’ve done with clients that I started to realize that the information that’s coming to me is not coming from my mind, but rather from somewhere else.
For example, on one occasion I had a sudden “knowing” that I needed to change lanes while driving my car. Switching to the left lane in that particular situation made no logical sense because the left was the wrong lane for me to be in on my way home. Regardless, I just knew that I had to get into the left lane immediately and so I did. Within seconds I came around the corner and just missed a car that was dead stopped in the middle of the right lane I was just in. The car had apparently just hit a dog and the driver had gotten out of the car to look at the dog. If I didn’t get into the left lane I most likely wouldn’t have been able to stop in time and very likely would have hit the car that was dead stopped. I may have even ended up injuring the driver that had gotten out of the car.
In one instance like this it is easy to dismiss it as “luck”, but I’ve had numerous occasions like this where I just knew something that made no logical sense for me to know. I’ve had so many of these situations now that the possibility that it was just a “lucky guess” defies statistical probability.
Anyway, what I realized after working with Chris is that I already had an open channel of communication with my guides, but I simply wasn’t tuning into it and listening on that channel. I already had a divination method but I only used it in life and death situations and on occasion during coaching sessions with clients. For my Soul Realignment™ course readings though I was trying to use a much slower and unnecessary “tool” that was frustrating my Spirit Guides. The way I see it now is that it was as if I was attempting to communicate with my Spirit Guides using Morse Code (pendulum metaphor) when really I had a high-speed Internet connection with them (Claircognizence) that I just needed to turn on and learn to use more effectively.
My Spirit Guides knew that if they started speaking to me using the pendulum I would use it as a crutch and probably never learn to turn on and trust my much more direct and faster method of divination.
The important thing to remember is that there are many different ways and methods of divining information. If you try using one and it doesn’ t work for you, don’t give up! It may simply be a case of using the wrong method for you. There are other students in the Soul Realignment™ program that are using their pendulums and they work great for them, so it’s not like I’m saying that dowsing is not a good system to use. If it works for you, by all means use it!
What I’m saying though is that there are many different methods and it’s worth exploring and learning what the different methods are. Even if you are getting results and making progress, maybe there is a better, easier and faster way for you to communicate with your Spirit Guides. Even though I’ve really expanded and connected to my Claircognizant abilities in the last few months I’m still testing out and trying to develop other methods that will hopefully improve my Clairvoyant, Clairaudient and Clairsentient channels as well. I don’t want to limit myself to just one channel, and neither should you. Try different methods out and see what resonates with you, always keeping in mind that everyone is unique and different in their abilities.
I’m currently using a combination of several different divination methods for the readings I’m doing in my Automatic Intuition course, and one day soon I would like to go back and finish my Soul Realignment™ training as well because I really liked the course materials and the Soul Realignment™ modality itself, but I just needed to sort out my divination methodology before moving forward.

it is great to know that you are now going deep into the study of intuition. i have read in some one decade ago (where i do not know the source) that in a study done by the one famous university (sorry do not know the name of university) to know the tools for business in twenty first century and only two things are come to light and that is meditation and intuition. at that time i did not agree with this study. but now i am seeing that how intuition and meditation is really helping a man in all area of life and also a huge mistake if not use in daily life.

one more question Paul. how can a lay man like me talk to his spirit guide. so that he can get some guidance from his guide.
can you help many persons like me in this regard.

Sanjay there is no such thing as a spirit guide.
@Serge: Sure there is. Just because you haven’t personally experienced something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
Hey Paul, what kind of divination method can you recommend so far for claircognizant people? What is working for you?
.-= alice hive´s last blog ..Start des Alice Hive Newsletter =-.
@Alice Hive: For claircognizant people I think there are a number of factors involved. First of all, you need to expand your depth of knowledge in terms of vocabulary, names, signs, symbols etc. Because things just pop into your head, you need to have a mental frame of reference for them. For example, lets say that you were doing a reading for someone related to health. If you study basic body anatomy, you’ll be better able to pinpoint a more detailed area such as liver, lower intestine, appendix, etc. instead of just having the word “stomach” pop into your head.
So, depending on the type of readings you’re planning on doing, you’ll need to expand your “labels”. I’ve been learning about things like Chakra’s for example, studying what each one means, what colors are associated with them etc. Another thing I started studying is different types of entities, and their labels. For example, what’s a spirit guide, what’s an angle, what’s an Archangel, what’s an ascended master, etc. Of course these are just labels we create in the 3 dimensional world to represent something, but it’s useful to have such distinctions in your mind.
Then, the second thing for claircognizense is actual practice so that you can learn to discern the different between an intuitive insight and just your regular thoughts. It would be a great idea to get around people who you can do practice readings for, or having an intuitive mentor to work with who can “test” you on certain things and give you feedback. Having the right mentor is I think 90% of the battle. If you can find the right person to mentor you, you’ll have such an easier time compared to someone who’s trying to do it alone. The right mentor can really help you to tune into what is intuition and what isn’t, and to help you boost your confidence.
That is really interesting. I ahve been working on this myself and playing around with a pendulum as well. I find it to sometimes work and other times not, But more often than not It is my subconsciousness that is guiding the pendulum. I have been working more with tarot card and meditation. I often have dreams that come true so I work with that as well.

Yeah, for me the pendulum isn’t the best method.
I find Tarot cards or just direct Claircognizence work best for me. I use Tarot mostly for myself as it’s hard to read yourself without being biased. When I do Tarot though I know the card is the card, so I can’t really “cheat”.
