Hi, Paul! I'm about to start P90X. I appreciate your insights. Have you finished your 30lb challenge? I've lost 38 pounds in the last 6 months--mostly from exercising and a little bit of changing what I eat. I agree with you that muscle can still be built under a cushy layer of fat. I'd still like to lose about 15 more pounds this year, but after your comments (research), I won't expect to see those melt off in P90X. However, I do know that more muscle increases metabolism and helps the body burn more fat, so maybe I'll achieve that benefit as well.

Thank you for sharing your story. I'll be interested to hear more of your results. Thank you also for your P90X log/calendar. That's what brought me to your site.

Gidday, I've had some deluxe results as a personal trainer, with people that thought they could never change. You can see a few of them on the link below. I like to show people what is really possible, because a lot of people think that it takes years of work to be healthy and fit.

http://www.bodybuildingforum.ie/post5451.html#p5451

I reckon its all about thinking, letting go of and really accepting new choices, new beliefs. Example can really help that process. It can shatter old beliefs, and they obviously can't be accepted as true anymore. Like when Bannister broke the four minute mile. It suddenly, obviously was posibble. Anything to the contrary simply didn't hold water anymore. What really interests me are the Bannisters. Without example, and against a barrage of opposite belief, often supposed expert belief, how they manage to do what they do. What the factors are that are different to the others who need the example first.

hey paul, im 15, and did p90x once before and i'm doing it again. the 1st time was to lose weight. i hated my stomach. so i asked for p90x for christmas. i didn't follow the nutrient plan, just ate better. by the time i was maybe halfway through the program i also found i'm myself not craving soda, or other bad stuff p90x would consider unholy lol. i lost at least 15 lbs, and i loved it. now doing it again to gain more muscle.

good luck on your goal and thanks for the log sheets!

Thanks, I will. It's so weird not to crave Pop anymore. I'm much more interested in plain water now. In fact, I'm going to go upstairs and have some right now. :)
