How to Lose Fat Naturally with No Exercise – Day 17

It’s been a while since I’ve had a change to write a post updating my progress in losing fat on my custom designed fat loss program.  It’s Day 17 on the program for me.

Attending a Wedding

This past weekend, my sister-in-law got married and my wife was the bride of honor so the week leading up to the wedding and the weekend have been pretty chaotic.  I managed to follow my program for most of the week but we did have a wedding rehearsal last Tuesday, the wedding on Friday and a gift opening on Saturday.

I tried my best to eat healthy at the wedding rehearsal, but I decided to allow myself to eat whatever I wanted during the wedding so I had a couple of drinks during the wedding on Friday as well as wedding cake etc.  The rest of the weekend wasn’t much better.  I ended up eating Chinese food and Pizza during the weekend, but got back on track on Monday.

Even though this last week wasn’t the easiest week to stay on my plan, as I predicted the “buffer” I’ve been building up by eating healthy nutritious food since starting 17 days ago allowed me to “cheat” for a few days without setting me back at all.  This is unlike most “yo-yo” diets where you gain all the fat you lost the minute you “cheat” and have a meal that isn’t perfect.

17 10/07/2009 204.20 49.01 155.19 24.0

As you can see, so far I’ve lost 5.8lbs and about 2.0% body fat.  Not bad considering it’s only been 17 days and three of those days I took a break for the wedding.

What’s even more crazy is that when I sent out a survey last month to find out how much weight people lost doing the P90X program for 90 days, only 28.6% of the people that responded lost more than 5lbs of fat on the program.  That means that over 71% of the people who did the P90X program lost less than 5lbs of fat (if anything).

And remember that P90X gets you track your body fat % as well as your weight, so that takes care of any “conversion” of fat weight into muscle weight people would have experienced.

When I was on the P90X program, I stuck with it for 58 days and I didn’t lose as much fat as I’ve lost in the last 17 days following my program.  Of course P90X isn’t a “fat loss” program, as much as it’s a “gain muscle” program, but I still think it’s pretty impressive to be able to lose almost 6lbs of fat just by making a few adjustments to my diet with no exercise.

Thanks, I will. It’s so weird not to crave Pop anymore. I’m much more interested in plain water now. In fact, I’m going to go upstairs and have some right now. :)

hey paul, im 15, and did p90x once before and i’m doing it again. the 1st time was to lose weight. i hated my stomach. so i asked for p90x for christmas. i didn’t follow the nutrient plan, just ate better. by the time i was maybe halfway through the program i also found i’m myself not craving soda, or other bad stuff p90x would consider unholy lol. i lost at least 15 lbs, and i loved it. now doing it again to gain more muscle.

good luck on your goal and thanks for the log sheets!

Gidday, I’ve had some deluxe results as a personal trainer, with people that thought they could never change. You can see a few of them on the link below. I like to show people what is really possible, because a lot of people think that it takes years of work to be healthy and fit.

I reckon its all about thinking, letting go of and really accepting new choices, new beliefs. Example can really help that process. It can shatter old beliefs, and they obviously can’t be accepted as true anymore. Like when Bannister broke the four minute mile. It suddenly, obviously was posibble. Anything to the contrary simply didn’t hold water anymore. What really interests me are the Bannisters. Without example, and against a barrage of opposite belief, often supposed expert belief, how they manage to do what they do. What the factors are that are different to the others who need the example first.

Hi, Paul! I’m about to start P90X. I appreciate your insights. Have you finished your 30lb challenge? I’ve lost 38 pounds in the last 6 months–mostly from exercising and a little bit of changing what I eat. I agree with you that muscle can still be built under a cushy layer of fat. I’d still like to lose about 15 more pounds this year, but after your comments (research), I won’t expect to see those melt off in P90X. However, I do know that more muscle increases metabolism and helps the body burn more fat, so maybe I’ll achieve that benefit as well.

Thank you for sharing your story. I’ll be interested to hear more of your results. Thank you also for your P90X log/calendar. That’s what brought me to your site.
