New RSS Record of 2005 Reached
For months and months now my RSS feed has been hovering between 1,700 and 1,950 RSS subscribers and it’s been driving me nuts as it just wouldn’t ever go past 2,000.
Remembering back to the early days of this Blog I had a similar problem reaching my first 100 subscribers, and once I reached 100 it wasn’t long for it to grow past that rather quickly.
Hitting 1,000 was yet another milestone that took a little bit of work, but 2,000 has been the hardest goal so far.
My Feedburner RSS feed is tied in with my AWeber account so when people subscribe to my email list it increases my RSS feed numbers as well. However, for some strange reason every time I would get a few extra email subscribers added to my email list, a few RSS readers would drop off. Then when a few RSS readers would subscribe, I would get a few unsubscribes through email. I’ve been watching my RSS counter for months and it’s like it’s been stuck below 2,000.
About a week ago, I actually started working with a coach again. Her name is Angela, and she specializes in working with business people who are looking to get “unstuck” energetically, spiritually and emotionally. Angela’s methods are completely unlike anyone I’ve ever worked with before. She has the ability to be able to tune into your energy and suggest very specific visualization / meditation exercises to help you make the changes you want in your life.
I worked with Angela more than 6 months ago and although I was somewhat skeptical at first because her methods are so different from what I’ve previously been exposed to before, I did experience some amazing results right off the bat when working with her. At that time I was stuck making on average about $25/day in revenue as an affiliate marketer, and during one of our first sessions she worked with me on some guided visualization exercises. That very first day, my revenues jumped from $25/day to $250/day. That’s a jump from $750/m in revenues to $7,500/m in revenues. It was a huge jump, and the absolute weird thing about it is that I did absolutely nothing to my campaigns to warrant the change. On that day, the search engines just decided to start sending me more traffic, and more traffic converted to leads; all without me changing one thing.
Now, it could have been a coincidence and maybe my campaign just hit a critical threshold of some sort and started to produce results the very same day we started working together, but I’ve experienced way too many synchronistic events like this to chalk it up to coincidence.
After some quick initial success however, I ran into some huge subconscious resistance to some of the exercises she asked me to do. When I say “subconscious resistance” what I mean is that I wanted to do the exercises, but whenever I would sit down to do them something would get in the way. The telephone would ring, my laptop battery would die, someone would come over unexpectedly, or I would try to do the exercise but my mind would just go blank. And these were not difficult exercises to do either!
It’s like all the universal forces would line up to prevent me from getting the exercises done. I did eventually force my way through the exercises, but I did feel like the timing wasn’t right and I kind of put the coaching relationship on hold for a period of time. My income had just grown tenfold so I had some affiliate campaigns to tend to, which kept me busy for a while.
Although my revenues haven’t gone down below $250/day since that day (on average), I haven’t made any huge leaps since then either. I managed to grow that $250/day up to about $400/day in revenues, but that’s about it.
Then, last week I was writing in my journal about my frustration with my affiliate income being stagnant and my RSS feed growth being stagnant when I remembered one of the visualizations Angela taught me to do. I hadn’t done that visualization in about 5 or 6 months and I hadn’t really spoken with Angela in about that time either. I did the visualization, and I went to bed.
The next morning the weirdest thing happened. Angela contacted me on Skype and wanted to know if I wanted to re-establish our coaching relationship. The synchronicity of the timing was way too much for me to dismiss as coincidence, so we began working together again.
Since starting to work together I’ve had quite a few “aha” moments that I know will have a monumental effect on my future. This evening, however, I ran into another mental block and I was just thinking that if I don’t figure it out I’ll never get past my stagnation point and my RSS count will never go above 2,000.
About an hour later I realized that there was a small area of my life where I wasn’t taking 100% full responsibility for my results in and that I needed to stop blaming others for my lack of success and to take responsibility for myself completely – 100%.
About 10 minutes after making that realization I was fixing the RSS feed of my RCCarBasher.com blog on Feedburner’s site when I clicked on my dashboard and saw my RSS count jump to 2,005. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Literally 10 minutes after making my realization, my RSS feed jumps above 2,000 for the first time ever.
I was so excited I decided to celebrate by making myself some Eggo Waffles!
Here’s a picture:

I tried to write 2,005 with syrup but it didn’t really turn out. No I didn’t eat all 4 Eggo’s by myself either.

Congrads on your new RSS record: ) I love the waffles, what a creative way to celebrate.
@Lisa: Thanks Lisa. Now I’m officially sick of Eggo Waffles for at least a few days.
There is something to be said for energy. I used to be a chiropractor and whenever I went to this really uplifting seminar patients would call into the office and schedule appointments with my receptionist. That Monday when I would return to work I would just be super busy with new patients. No new promotions or marketing or anything. Just positive energy flowing around. This happened every time.
Nice Paul congrats. And nice celebration prize lol. Why don’t you write a post of how you reached the 2.000 limit?
Gr8, 2005 subscribers!! hmmm this is something of a dream to me. If you can let us know how long it has taken for you to get to this and what were the procedures or development you did to achieve this, would be gr8
Congrats on the milestone, Paul! What a cool surprise! And those waffles are AWESOME!
@Rhonda: How cool is that eh? Completely bends the laws of reality when that kind of stuff happens.
