Acai, Resveratrol and the Maqui Berry

Written by Paul Piotrowski - Monday, July 6th, 2009

I’ve been doing a lot of research lately on three natural supplements that have been making headlines recently.

Firstly, there is the Acai Berry which is a “Superberry” native to Central and South America.  The Acai Berry naturally contains powerful anti-oxidants and has been reported to have numerous health benefits.  While I do my research, I’ve created a page for the Acai Berry which shows what I’ve discovered about the berry so far.  You can find my Acai Berry page here.

Secondly, I’ve also been looking into something called Resveratrol, which is a natural compound found in sevaral plants around the world.  Resveratrol is found in small amounts in red wine, but most of the health benefits of resveratrol come from consuming it in concentrated amounts.  I’ve looked into the health benefits of resveratrol and I must say that I’m very impressed by this new supplement that’s now becoming available to the general public.  I created a page where I document the research I’ve found on resveratrol so far.  You can find my Resveratrol page here.

Thirdly, there is now a brand new berry that has just recently been discovered that scored even higher than the more popular Acai Berry in ORAC-H scores.  I’ve done research on this berry as well and I’m very impressed with it as well, especially relating to the weight loss studies that were done on it by the University of Texas.  I created a page where I document my research on the Maqui Berry so far.  You can find my Maqui Berry page here.

As I do more research on these three natural supplements I’ll update those pages, so you might want to bookmark them for easy access later on.  I will also be looking into supplementing my diet with these supplements in the near future and I’ll report what I find.  So far I am taking an Acai Berry supplement and have experienced a definite rise in energy levels, as well as improved sleep and my skin isn’t as dry as it used to be around my knees and elbows.

If Paul Piotrowski is like many other bloggers, he is receiving a kick back from the manufacturers of resveratrol pills. Be aware. The free bottle offers are the subject of many complaints to the Better Business Bureau when consumers find their credit card being billed every month. Don’t do business here. Bloggers are the source of much misinformation about resveratrol.

MAQUI – The Original Super Fruit

A dark deeply purple berry, Maqui is the most powerful known antioxidant botanical in the world, making it a stronger antioxidant than acai, mangosteen, goji, noni or even chocolate. According to studies, Maqui is also a powerful anti-inflammatory and has thermogenic properties, which has been attributed to relieving pain caused by swelling and aiding in weight loss.

The Mapuche Indians of South America are the only indigenous people in all of the Americas who have never been conquered by an invading force. The Spanish conquistadors who were repeatedly defeated by the Mapuche said that the extreme stamina and strength of the natives came from the daily consumption of a beverage made from the revered Maqui berry.

The dark purple fruit of the Aristotelia chilensis is about the size of a large blueberry and has been used for centuries by the Mapuche to treat such health conditions as skin inflammation, pain, disorders of the stomach and fatigue.

The Maqui berry is taken orally as well as externally in a poultice to treat cuts, abrasion and other wounds.

Modern science has shed light on just how these Maqui remedies have been so effective.

According to independent lab reports, the Maqui berry:

    · Has the highest natural ORAC value and the highest concentration of anthocyanins (from plants, a powerful antioxidant) and polyphenols (from plants, plays a role in the prevention of degenerative diseases) of any known fruit or berry including acai, mangosteen, amalaki and pomegranate

    · Has also shown anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the expression of COX-2, which plays a role in inflammation

    · Is antimicrobial (kills or inhibits the growth of bacteria, fungi or viruses)

    · Has analgesic / pain relieving properties

    · Thermogenic properties / raises core body temperature

    · ProhibitS LDL oxidation

    · Anti-atherogenic / Helps manage healthy cholesterol & triglyceride levels

    · Stimulates PPAR receptors / regulates cell development

  3. You made some good points here. I did a search on the topic and found most people will agree with your blog.

  7. @Bill: Hi Bill, as you can see in all of my supplement reviews I *clearly* spell out the terms of each offer, making it abundantly clear how much each product costs during and after the trial period is over and I also provide links to each offer’s exact terms and conditions and their support contact information.

Unlike many other “fake” Blogs, which Google and the FTC is actively cracking down on, I don’t hide any information about the offers or myself. I present all the information on each offer so that people can make informed decisions on which offer they would like to try out, if any at all after they are shown all the details of it.

Nutritionally beneficial supplements like the Acai Berry, Maqui Berry and Resveratrol are going to continue to be discovered and brought to our attention as we move away from a paradigm of health-care where we treat disease to a paradigm of preventing it in the first place.

I spend a lot of time doing my research on the latest nutritional supplements and report it on my Blog here free of charge. I do this to shine a light on these amazing nutritional supplements. If you can kindly point out any inaccuracies or “misinformation” you see in my research on my Blog about Resveratrol, I’d be glad to look into it, but please don’t smear my Blog with the same paintbrush as all the other “Fake Blogs” out there without looking at the fact that I have been Blogging long before those sites popped up all over the Internet and I’ll be Blogging long after they’re gone.
