More Busy, More Productive?

Written by Paul Piotrowski - Thursday, June 4th, 2009

I’m blogging this from my iPhone. The power has been out since 5 pm. I think someone smoked a powerpole and took out the lines.

It’s funny because a couple of days ago my brother was over and he was commenting on a small shrub / tree that I have which had dangerously grown into the powerlines beside my house. I’ve been wanting to cut it down for two years now but never got around to it because it would mean that I would have to call my power company and get them to cut the power for a few hours so I can cut the branches on that tree safely.

Well today with the power out due to lines being down, I took the opportunity to cut down all those branches so that they are no longer anywhere near my power lines.

I also climbed up on the roof and changed my halogen bulbs. :)

It’s so weird. Ever since we got Zoe on Saturday, I’ve had so much less time to actually “work” on my business, but I feel like I’ve been way more productive in getting the most important things done when I am working.

Not only that but with all the walking I’ve been doing with Zoe, I think I’ve probably lost a few pounds of fat. I’ll weigh myself this weekend. Maybe I’ve already hit my first weight milestone of 205.0lbs and don’t even know it.

Has anyone else noticed that when things happen in life that seemingly should make it harder to get things done, we somehow end up getting more done?

Somewhere in the middle of all the hooplah today, before the power went out I even found some time to do some tweaks on my affiliate marketing campains that I hope will boost my income to at least hit my next milestone of $10,000 in in profit in 30 days.

Now I’ve even managed to squeeze out a blog post on my iPhone in the dark, LOL.

I’m going to attempt to also attach some pictures I took of Zoe, Zoe’s sister (the chocolate lab in the pics), Zoe and Kobe, and a few pics of this beatiful yellow and black butterfly I saw today in my yard while walking Zoe. If you see a bunch of pics at the end of the post then it worked. I’ve never blogged from my iPhone with pics so I hope this works.

Who else found themselves more productive when their schedule got way more hectic?

Comments:

  1. Hey Paul, the puppy looks awesome. Your post reminded me there is more to life than affiliate marketing… but, we all certainly enjoy it.

I guess when your aim is to enjoy life, everything else falls into place!

Can you confirm that you met your first milestone?

  2. Caden Grant says:

Hey, Paul. I love your puppy, Zoe. She’s so cute haha :p

And good luck on reaching the weight you want and earning that $10,000 in 30 days ;)

  3. Evan says:

Hi Paul, I think busyness can help productivity – but only for the routine stuff we need to get down. Creative thought and work needs space (for me anyway – though getting out stuff too fast too think can be a useful initial process).

  4. Cynthie says:

I love lab puppies!! I have two dogs at the moment – german shepherd & black forest hound. I used to foster black labs though. Too fun!!

  5. Cynthie says:

Oh and another quote you can use. My mom always said, “If you want to know how get something done quickly, ask the busiest person you know!”
We are definitely more productive the busier we are :)

  6. @ampedjonathan: I haven’t met my first milestone yet. I have to run my numbers this weekend and weight myself. I think I’m pretty close on both sides, but I haven’t confirmed that I hit the mark yet.

  7. @Caden: Thanks. I’m looking forward to hitting both milestones.

  8. @Evan: It’s not so much about being “busy”, as it is about finding ways to be more productive in the time that we have. For example, while walking Zoe, I can easily check my Twitter account and approve comments on my Blog by using my iPhone. Also, every time I take her for a walk, it’s exercise for me as well, so it’s helping me reach my fitness/health goals as well. Then when she has a nap, I know I have my productive time on the computer to get things done.

  9. @Cynthie: Nice, Kobe is a German Shepherd x Akita cross. Dogs are awesome.
