First Reward Picked
A few days back I wrote about setting a goal to grow my income and to lose some weight at the same time (see full post here). I created nine milestones for myself to achieve along the way. My ultimate goal is to grow my business income to making $30,000 in a rolling 30 day period of time and to lose 25lbs of fat.
My first milestone is for my business to make $10,000 in 30 days and to either lose 5 lbs of fat or to drop my weight down to 205.0 lbs. For reaching each milestone I will be coming up with rewards for myself to celebrate reaching that milestone. Today I decided what I will set as my first reward for reaching the first milestone.
The Blendtec Total Blender (in Black)
My first reward will be this Blendtec Total Blender. I know, you’re probably thinking “Why would he want a blender?”. The reason is because this thing is way more than just a blender. This sucker is powered by a 1,500 Watt direct-drive motor that generates 3 horse power. You can turn ice into snow with this thing!
My primary purpose of getting this thing is to start making fruit & veggie shakes and smoothies, which will help me to get more fruits and veggies into my diet. I know I’m not getting enough fruits and veggies right now so this is a good way to increase my consumption. Eating more fruit and vegetables is going to also help me to lose some of this excess weight too, so it’s a perfect reward to pick at the beginning of my journey.
Besides being able to make shakes and smoothies, you can use it to make ice cream, bread dough, fondue, pancake batter, salsa, peanut butter, snow-cones and hot soup… yes, HOT soup.
There is a setting on this blender that allows you to make hot soup. The blade on this blender is capable of spinning so fast that it can actually heat up soup in less than two minutes.
Will It Blend?
The company behind this blender even hired this guy to create these video’s they’ve been putting on YouTube of crazy stuff that they’ve blended in this blender, from broom-sticks to shoes, to video games. Here’s where they test to see if an iPhone will blend:
There are more video’s on YouTube if you want to check them out, but basically this is a commercial quality blender for your home. The benefits of using this blender compared to a juicer or a cheap-quality blender is that you get to drink the whole fruit (including fiber) as opposed to just the juice of the fruit which only makes up a small percentage of a fruit.
The company has some pretty cool video’s on what you can do with this blender on their website here. Beside the picture of the blender you’ll see three tabs (Overview , Specifications, Resources). Just click on Resources and you’ll see a bunch of videos.

DANNNGG, that blender is crazy! I wonder why it’s not on commercial here in the US
Nice choice on the blender. That will be a lovely reward for making your goal. When you get the blender (and meet your goal) you should do a video post of what you can do and are doing with your blender!
No offence, but with a cheesy advert for the product like that one, id be LESS inclined to buy not more. The amount of cutawayshots during the blending process makes me suspect it is not as capable of gring the iphone to dust as it suggests. You may argue that thats not its purpose but deceptive marketing shows the ethics of the company that is marketing it.
The whole thing just seems corny to me and a massive turnoff.
best of luck with your trial however paul
@Neilous: They reason they are “cheesy” is because they were created as a way to take advantage of viral marketing on YouTube. Serious, professional marketing video’s aren’t remarkable enough to spread.
The company also has more professional, chef doing a demo type video’s on their site if you prefer those.
I’ve also done research on many sites for user reviews and people seem to like this blender a lot, even more than the Vita-Mix which is also a good blender.
@Mike: I haven’t seen it on TV in Canada either. I think they’re smarter than that, realizing that it is much more cost effective to use viral marketing on the Internet to reach their target audience – hence the “Will it Blend” episodes on YouTube.
We’re starting to see the end of TV Commercials as the standard setters in our society. The Internet is now a much faster, better, cheaper way to connect with customers, without the multi-million dollar budgets required for a 30 second spot.
The way I see it, if there were tonnes of commercials on TV for this Blender, it wouldn’t cost $399, it would cost $599 probably, with the extra $200 going to pay for the extra marketing costs, so I’m happy it’s not on TV.
@Lisa: Yes, I was thinking the same thing. However, I will not be blending my iPhone or any broomsticks. I plan on using my blender for food only.
