@ampedjonathan: You're totally right, making a good "last impression" is not an easy thing to do. There are a lot of factors to consider. Someone might come to my site and the most current article is not relevant to them... but if I set a goal for myself to try to improve the "last impression" of my visitors, I could come up with solutions to things like that. For example, maybe I could have something somewhere saying "Not what you were looking for? Click here to search." or something like that. If we ask the right questions, we can always get the right answers back.

The important thing to do is just become aware that "Last Impressions" count and then take small steps each day to improve them.

I liked your post, but It made me think. In my opinion first impressions (specifically on the internet) are very important. Within seconds, the user decides if they are going to stay, or click-away. Based on that first impression, and what they read while visiting (the last impression) the user might come back. However, the most current article on your site might not be what they are looking for... then they might leave. It’s hard to ensure both impressions are favorable for everyone.

The question is, how do you know it will be someones "last" impression of your store, blog, or whatever. I guess it depends on your definition, as in a website the last impression would be the footer, but in a store it could be any number of things. We need to cover all the bases just in case I suppose, right?
