Getting Back On Track
Last week I started thinking about getting back on track with my plans to get in shape. It’s been more than a month since I’ve put P90X on hold an I want to get back on it. I haven’t yet decided when I’m going to start back up, but in the meantime I’ve been taking some smaller steps to get back on the bandwagon.
A week ago my wife and I went for a 75 minute walk, and this past weekend I also did about 3 hours of gardening on Sunday. It’s not much but it’s a good start to get my body moving.
I actually haven’t weighed myself in the last month, but I just did and I’m at 207.8lbs and my Body Fat is at 26.2%. It looks like my weight dropped a bit but I think it’s all been muscle. That’s a bit depressing, but I have been on a break for a month and haven’t worked out at all so it’s to be expected.
One thing I definitely want to figure out very soon is my diet. I think it is crucial to be eating properly if you’re going to be on a fitness program. My problem is not knowing what I should or shouldn’t be eating, but making it a priority in my life above all the other things I’m working on in my life.
On another note, does anyone else here live in Canada and have any interest in becoming a P90X coach? They are currently not accepting Canadian applicants, but if you contact me I have a contact that will be speaking to BeachBody in the next while who’s trying to get the Canadian market opened up. If you’re interested, contact me and I’ll provide more details.

Paul,
Take on running – even if it is really hard in the beginning. The fastest way to losing some pounds is via running. After 4-5 pounds the weight loss will “slow down” as you start building up muscle, but the fat will continue to disappear. Very important – cross training. As with every exercise you will burn less fat/calories if do you train different type of muscles.
I started running for like 20 minutes and then slowly worked my way up to about an hour (or roughly 7 miles). Now I usually run for about 40 minutes and then do some weights or if I do not run I do an eliptical trainer workout for 30 minutes, rowing for 10 minutes and then some weights.
Paul, I stumbled across your website, I’ve been looking for reviews on vegan Meal replacement protein powders, I have an adverse reaction to any and all soy and whey based protein powders. So in reading your review of Veganique, I laughed but decided to order a sample pac anyway, I’m used to the gritty taste of brown rice protein powder. Boy, I should have listened to your review, gross is all I have to say. In my opinion it’s the Stevia in the powder that’s over powering. I did buy some other samples to try out, if your interested I’ll post my reviews.
If your looking for a good post workout protein powder try NutriBiotic’s Rice protein, I use 30 grams for 110 cal. and 24 grams of protein. It’s gritty, but no added sweeteners. Yummy with fruit, water or rice milk.
They should open up Beachbody coach signups to Canadian users. Did you get any word on whether or not they plan to still do this?
I see this post was from way back in 2009. I hope you didn’t give up on working through the P90x system Paul. Let me know how things are going.

It’s been 3 years and still no BB in Canada. I’ve moved onto other opportunities, not just because of the wait but also because all BB products are sold in retail stores here in Canada – so even if the coaching opportunity ever opens up here, it’s not going to be able to compete with buying P90X at Costco or Walmart who sell the programs for cheaper than BB themselves. It’s pretty much pointless.
@Chris: I actually started walking a lot with my new puppy Zoe. She keeps me busy. I’ve done a lot of walking in the last week and a half.
