Make Money Online Through Repetition
On my way home this evening, my wife and I stopped by Panago Pizza to pickup some pizza. We didn’t order ahead so when we got there and ordered we had to wait about 20 minutes for our food to be made.
While we were sitting there, we watched as the staff there were making pizza’s for all the orders that were coming in. I couldn’t believe how quickly they were whipping through all the orders. They had three people up front just doing the dough part where they take the ball of dough and make it into a flat crust. There was probably about 12 people on staff total doing all the orders, doing deliveries etc.
My wife and I watched in awe. Wow, what a smooth operation. Every order that was coming in had special instructions. Some wanted extra sauce, while others light sauce. Some extra toppings, others less toppings. In the 20 minutes we were there, they must have whipped up 20-30 pizza’s at least, not to mention the orders of wings, salads etc.
Anyway, the reason I really liked sitting there and watching this was because it reminded me once again how businesses make money, and that is through REPETITION. Making money online is no different. If you want to make money online, you have to find something you enjoy doing that provides value to others and do a whole crap-load of it.
An Observation From the Business World
Being in business for the last 15 years has taught me a lot. I’ve held every position from the very bottom all the way to the CEO seat and everything in between. What I’ve learned over those years is that no matter which position you take within a company, whether it be sales, programming, marketing, production, service, or anything else, there is always a set of regular, repetitive tasks that each position holds.
For example, let’s take the position of a sales person within a company. Sales people basically perform a series of repetitive tasks such as: prospecting leads, contacting leads, creating interest, presenting, closing, following up, asking for referrals, etc. Successful sales people who have made millions in the sales industry basically just got good at those very basic and fundamental things and then did them a crap-load of times. They just kept doing them over and over and over again throughout their careers, and that is how they built their fortunes.
Service people deal with customers all day long. Their repetitive task is handling customers. Programmers write lines of code all day long. That’s their repetitive task. Marketing people create marketing materials each week, month, quarter or season. CEO’s meet with people, inspire people, and mostly make decisions all day long. Every job, every role has repetitive tasks in it. You can’t get away from it.
The difference I’ve mostly seen in people who are successful in things, and those who aren’t is that the successful ones actually ENJOY the repetitive tasks that their roles require. For example, successful programmers actually enjoy writing lines of code. They don’t work on projects just to finish them and then be done with them. They work on projects because they enjoy writing code and solving problems etc. It’s not something they have to do as a means to an end.
The same thing applies to making money online. There are many different ways to make money online, but each type of “system” requires some type of repetitive task. For example, Blogging requires you to constantly be writing Blog posts. Do you remember when you were back in school and the teacher asked you to write a 500 word essay? Remember the moans and groans from all the students, complaining that 500 words is a lot? How long did it take you to write that 500 word essay?
Now, while you think about that, I just checked my stats and so far I have written 317,601 words in my Blog posts on this site not counting this post I’m writing now. Isn’t that insane? The thing is that I enjoy writing so it’s not something that is hard for me to do. Can you imagine writing 317,000 words of text if you hated writing? It would be torture! That’s why most people who try to make money with Blogs end up abandoning them, because they didn’t realize that there was actual work involved. And my Blog is still tiny compared to people like ProBlogger or John Chow who pump out way more content than me.
My point is that every line of business, offline or online, has repetitive tasks. In the Affiliate Marketing game it’s all about testing campaigns and constantly tracking stats and keywords. You do that over and over and over and over again, every day. Each campaign is in constant tweaking and split testing to maximize profits. If you enjoy doing that kind of stuff, you’ll love Affiliate Marketing. If tweaking a campaign to squeeze out an extra 2% ROI on it bores you to tears and you’d rather be mountain climbing, or hiking nature trails than perhaps Affiliate Marketing isn’t for you. It doesn’t mean you can’t make money online, but you have to find something that you enjoy doing because you’ll be doing it repetitively to see success.
Let’s look at some examples to really drive the point home here. Let’s take a look at Esther and Jerry Hicks. Most people think that they made their money by being in “The Secret” and maybe by writing a couple of books on the Law of Attraction. The fantasy is that all they did was write a couple of books, appeared in a movie and boom they are multimillionaires. That is not true. That is now how they became successful and made their money. They became successful by putting out a LOT of content out there.
Take a look at these workshops they have put out:

http://www.abraham-hickslawofattraction.com/lawofattractionstore/category/2005.html
Let’s see if I can count some of the stuff they’ve put out:
CD Sets: 7
Individual CD’s: 8
Special Subjects: 20
Cruises: 14
DVD’s and Video Tapes: 24
Books: 14
Individual Workshop Recordings: 750+
I mean look at that. There are over 750 CD recordings from workshops alone that they’ve put out over the years, dating back all the way to 1990. These people are producing content all the time. They must love what they do, otherwise they would have burned out a long time ago.
See, where I see a lot of people failing when it comes to making money online is that they start a Blog, write five Blog posts, or maybe even thirty posts, then they look at the fact that they’ve only got five or six comments and maybe a few people visiting on a daily basis and so they start thinking that their Blog sucks, they’re not good enough, and that they’ll never make any money.
In affiliate marketing, someone will try one campaign, two campaigns, or maybe even ten campaigns. They’ll come up with 25 keywords for each one and test them. They’ll lose $1000 in testing, make almost no money back from that, and so they give up.
You can’t give up like that. It’s not that you’re doing something wrong, it’s that you haven’t done enough! If you want to be a successful Blogger, but you’re not very confident in you writing yet, go write 2,000 Blog post
s, and you’ll become a good writer. I’ve only written about 500 so far, so I’m not even there myself, but I learn with each one I write.
Here’s my advice:
“Finding something you enjoy doing that brings value to people, and then doing it repetitively long enough to succeed is the “secret” to making money online (and offline).” – Paul Piotrowski, InspiredMoneyMaker.com
If you don’t believe this, go study anyone who’s successful online and you’ll find that they have done something that brings value, and they did a LOT of it. They just kept going at it, over and over again, until they succeeded. Go look how many eBooks Dr. Joe Vitale has written, and how many other products he’s created online. It’ll blow you away how much “stuff” these people put out there. Pat O’bryan has produced tonnes of content online. Dan Kennedy has a crap load of content as well.
Tony Robbins has done insane amounts of workshops, seminars and talks. Dr. John DeMartini does something like 300 seminars a year. Master stage illusionist David Copperfield does 500 shows around the world every year. Have you ever seen his show? It’s amazing, and he looks like he enjoys every single performance.
I know this doesn’t sound sexy, but it’s true. Don’t underestimate the power of just going out there and producing VOLUME of value, even if you’re not that “good” at whatever you’re doing yet. You’ll get better. If you like making music, go and make a tonne of music. If you like Blogging, go write a whole crap-load of blog posts. If you like making video’s, then make a tonne of those. If you want to get good at affiliate marketing, then test and launch a tonne of campaigns.
The reason I suggest you find something you actually enjoy doing is because if you don’t really enjoy it, and you’re just trying to pretend you enjoy it because you think it will make you money, you won’t stick with it long enough to succeed. It just isn’t going to happen. You’re much better off doing something else that you actually enjoy, and doing a crap-load of it.

Can anyone please tell me the genuine opportunity for monetize blog?
Hey Paul, did the Pizza workers look like they enjoyed their work? And did the pizza taste great?
@Moon Saud: Here’s pretty simple formula to start with:
(1) Do some research, find a niche market you’re passionate about and start writing a whole bunch of content.
(2) Become active in that community. Help people out on forums, comment on other Blogs, host some Blog Carnivals, etc. That will start to get you some traffic.
(3) Provide some sort of free resource to your readers in exchange for signing up for your newsletter.
(4) Build up an audience over time by doing this.
(5) Then, either use AdSense, or offer advertising for sale on your site, do reviews of products you like and affiliate link to them to start with.
It’s not difficult to start making $100-$500/month with the formula above.
@Ace: Yes on both counts. They looked like they enjoyed working there and the pizza did taste great.
