Shifting the Focus of Inspired Money Maker
InspiredMoneyMaker.com is about to go through a major shift in focus. Prior to starting this Blog, I was running a personal development Blog which focused on every aspect of personal development. My coach at the time encouraged me to pick a more narrow niche and focus on helping people with one specific area of personal development.
Picking a more narrow niche was very hard for me as I liked the freedom of being able to write about everything, however my Blog wasn’t getting a lot of traction because people didn’t really have an idea of what the Blog was about and most of what I wrote was general.
After a lot of soul searching I realized that the biggest thing I’d like to help people with was learning how to make money doing what you love. That is an area of my life that I have put a considerable amount of energy towards and I had a lot to share with people on that topic.
Personally I have gone through that journey several times in my life, building career paths that helped me to grow and experience new challenges, and at the same time as I was building and writing content for this Blog I was using the exact advice I was giving to once again move myself from a career that I used to love but had grown somewhat bored of, towards a new career path of Making Money Online.
I already had a career that most people would be extremely happy with, earning a six figure income, calling all the shots and managing a small team of employees. However, as comfortable as it was being in that position, my passion started to shift and I knew it was time for me to take the next step in personal growth and move into working as an independent Internet Entrepreneur, leveraging my extensive background in personal development and technology to make money online.
About a year after starting this Blog, I gave my employer my notice and began training my replacement. Six months ago I left the corporate job world and have been working on my own ever since, working on replacing my previous income by making money online. Although I anticipate that it probably won’t be until the end of this year before my finances fully go back to where they were prior to taking that leap, I’ve now reached the point where I’m making more money online working from home than I was making at my previous job. I cannot describe how amazingly liberating it feels to be able to accomplish this within six months of jumping into this full force.
The challenge I’ve been having with this Blog however is that my topic of “how to make money doing what you love” is really broad and encompasses anything anyone might want to do in order to make money doing what they love, but my personal journey has really just been focused on “how to make money online”. When I write articles, I’ve tried not to be too specific about making money online, attempting to make them universally applicable to anything people might love to do. However, by doing this I’m not doing justice to those who want to learn how to make money online, nor am I really doing justice to those who are not at all interested in the “making money online” field as I’m finding it harder and harder not to give my articles a “make money online” slant.
So, after giving it a lot of thought, I’ve decided to begin focusing this Blog specifically on the topic of: Mastering the Mindset of Making Money Online
I made the decision last night and I usually like to sleep on decisions like this so I went to bed and wanted to see how I would feel about it in the morning. I woke up this morning, super excited, jumping out of bed with dozens of Blog post ideas, so I know this is the right move at this time.
Over the coming weeks I will be making some changes to the Blog, and I also have an eBook on the topic of Mastering the Mindset of Making Money Online that’s about a quarter of the way to being done, which I will most likely be offering free of charge to my RSS subscribers when it comes out.
The new Blog theme is going to cover and focus a lot more on the “make money online” industry and especially on the mindset part of making money online. I know this shift in focus is going to provide a lot more value to those of you trying to make money online, and in a way it may even provide more value to those who are not interested in making money online if they just take the stuff I teach and apply it to their own industry.

Congrats on making a really great step- both with your blog and your professional life. I think you’ll be able to come up with a lot of great content for your topic of choice. You can always start another blog if you find yourself want to post more, or change the focus. That’s one of the great things about blogging. Looking forward to seeing future posts!
@MLDina: Thanks Dina, I gotta get back to doing more stuff working with companies like yours that make it possible for people to make money online. So far, yesterday and today I jumped out of bed excited with a new Blog post idea, so I think I’m really going to love this new focus on my Blog.
As I’m focused on making money online this is great news. Looking forward to it!
I think this is a great idea. This is something that I’ve been interested in for a couple years, but I still haven’t really pursued it, because I’m not sure which step to take first. Making money online is a topic that I’m extremely interested in, though– and I’ll definitely be checking out your website more often now!
(Also just wanted to say that I really like getting your newsletters. My email is the first thing that I check in the morning, so getting a newsletter is a nice reminder to check out what’s new on your blog. I wouldn’t mind getting them more often.)
That’s great! Let us know if we can help in any way. Looking forward to working with you more.
The only people who make money online are the ones who think up the scams and manage to get other people to send money for start-up packages, lists of “clients,” etc. If it were possible to make any kind of money online, why would anyone drive to work?
