P90X – Day 43 – Chest, Shoulders & Triceps
I did today’s workout early in the day. It’s way better to do it that way so that you’re not walking around all day thinking you still have a workout to do later on.
I pushed pretty hard in today’s workout and by the end of it my triceps were like Jello.
For the last two days I’ve been suffering from what I think are allergies. My nose has been congested like crazy and I feel like crap. I have never had allergies before, although everyone around me seems to have them every year. From my nutritional training I learned that allergies are a sign of a weakened immune system, probably caused by my crappy eating habits for the last few years.
I still have a ways to go, but I’m working on improving that. For lunch today I had chicken fingers, and for dinner my wife made this awesome stir fry:
Later on in the evening a buddy of mine brought over some authentic Italian style cheese Pizza’s you make in the oven, so I had a few slices of those as well. It was really good, just needed some nice grilled veggies on top.

Clean eating only slightly improves my allergies. I still suffer from crazy hayfever and scratchy eyes early each summer and in the fall. I’ve been suffering from it since I was a child. I grew up in the middle of the country and it was unbearable during crop harvest time. Ugh.
I can avoid a cold when many others around me are sick but can’t say the same for allergies. I can usually suffer on through them, but they’ll inconveniently flare up when I’m outside walking or running and it’s horrible, almost debilitating. If they are seasonal allergies you may feel a strange itching sensation in your throat or deep in your ears. That’s a symptom pretty unique to hayfever. If you start to notice that, go take some OTC allergy meds and it will typically dissipate. As for itchy eyes…prescription drops typically work for me, but not always. I haven’t found any “natural” remedies for them that actually work.
Only non-medical thing I can suggest for a stuffiness or congestion is to do a daily nasal irrigation with a neti pot (and salt water). It’s the strangest sensation in the world, but it works. Helps control irritants and keeps the sinuses moist.
