Day 31 Progress Report
Yesterday was Day 30 of the program and today I wanted to take some pictures to compare to my previous pictures from Day 1.
Take a look:
Ok, the side picture I tried taking numerous times and no matter how I stand my stomach looks like that. I swear I’m not sucking it in. That’s just how my stomach is now when I relax my body. All those fricken Ab Ripper X sessions have tightened my stomach up a lot and made it flatter.
If you look at the stats, you’ll notice that I am exactly the same weight today as when I started (212lbs). However, my Fat Mass has decreased by 3.0lbs and my Muscle Mass has increased by 3.0lbs.
I have also gained an inch on my chest, lost 1 inch around my waist at the smallest point (where I wear my belt), lost 2.5 inches around my waist (at the bellybutton), and lost 1.5 inches around my hips/buttocks.
I’ve also gained 0.75 inches on my bicep, 0.50 inches on my forearm, 0.75 inches around my thigh and 0.50 inches on my calf.
Other Benefits of P90X
Besides the stats reported above, I also feel a LOT stronger than before I started. On my first day of P90X I was sucking wind during the warm-up exercises! I kid you not. They were doing jumping jacks to warm up and I had to pause and recover because I was losing my breath. Now I can do them no problem.
On my first time doing Ab Ripper X, I was able to complete a total of 137 reps of all the different ab exercises. I am now able to do a total of 230 reps. That’s a 68% improvement.
I know it’s virtually impossible to see it in the pictures, but my muscles also feel a lot more solid. When I push on my pecs for example they feel way stronger than before with way less fat. The discouraging part is that my muscles have grown, but as they grow you can’t tell the difference because my fat jacket is still covering them up for now.
I have to say that I definitely FEEL a much bigger difference than I see in these pictures.
Improvements
Although I am very happy with my progress so far, I definitely need to make some improvements on the diet side of the program. In the last week or so I’ve gotten really sloppy with my diet. I’ve gone out for dinner way too many times than I should have, and I haven’t been eating my meals regularly enough.
I’m eating better than before I started, but I still could improve a lot more.
Well, there you have it. First 30 days done.

Hey Paul, congratulations on the progress! I’m looking forward to seeing more improvements. Keep it up!
I just wanted to congratulate you on a good job so far. I started P90X Jan 12, 2009 i am on Day 60 and i can’t believe i made it this far. I am so proud of myself. Anyways I also started a blog of my journey and i think what you are doing is awesome. Keeping a daily report of how you are doing is really what keeps you motivated. Its not the number you see on the scale but the loss of Body fat you do loose. So keep it up!! don’t forget it just doesn’t stop after 90 days. It must be a new way of living for for your future. That is the mistake alot of people tend to make once they reach that goal and then they stop and go back to there old ways. It took me 6 months to totally research P90X but once i made that decision there was no going back.
My finish date is April 11th and after that i will be doing it again…another 90 days worth….so excited. Oh i really like your blog. very nice.
take care and i will keep in touch
Matty
Very good info Paul. This looks like it’s really working for you. I sort of compare this to the transformation The Biggest Loser makes with their group. Keep up the good work and results.
How did you figure out your body fat percentage?
Wow Paul, we can already start seeing the difference and I think by the 90 days, the difference would be very clear to see. Keep it up..keep going and inspiring us..
Thanks for all the feedback guys. Today while I was doing Yoga X, I was looking at my legs and they have WAY less fat on them than before, especially above and below the knees. I am starting to be able to see muscle definition in my quads. Very cool.
Can’t wait to lose this fat jacket and to be able to see those muscles underneath.
Looks great man! You may not have lost 3 lbs of body weight. But you gained muscle and lost body fat.
That’s exactly what’s suppose to happen. Good job.
I prefer the method your going better because by the time you lose the fat. Your already muscular.
@Sam: I use a scale that calculates your body fat %. You can find them on Amazon or at most stores. Sometimes they call them “Body Composition Scale”. The one I have is an Ironman brand.
