P90X – Day 15 – Chest and Back
Today was the start of Week 3 on the program.
After not really eating very clean yesterday, I woke up this morning with a stuffed up, congested nose. It wasn’t super bad, but it was pretty annoying. Maybe it was some reaction to the dairy I ate in the spinach dip yesterday or something.
Breakfast
For Breakfast I had Scrambled Eggs, Cottage Cheese with Green Onions, and Soy Breakfast Sausage Patties on an English Muffin. When I went to the grocery store a few days ago they were totally out of Egg Whites, so I ended up picking up Egg Beaters which has Egg Whites and some Egg Yolks in it, but it has much less Cholesterol than just cracking your own Eggs.
I managed to find a store that had Egg Whites a few days later, but I still have two small containers of Egg Beaters so I decided to just use those up today for my scrambled eggs. They’re not as high in protein and have a bit more fat than Egg Whites, but I just wanted to get rid of them.
I also tried these new Meatless Breakfast Patties from Yves on my English Muffin. The patties added up to 80 Calories, with only 2 Grams of Fat, 4 Grams of Carbs and 11 Grams of Protein. They taste pretty good too.
As always with Monday’s, the breakfast keeps me so full for so long I actually ended up missing lunch because I had to go grocery shopping in the middle of the afternoon to get all my food for the week and when I got back I wanted to jump right into my workout and after the workout it was already dinner time.
The Workout
My workout today was good in terms of the intensity I brought into it, but I noticed that I was suffering from a lack of energy during the workout. This is most likely due to some of the crappy food I ate yesterday and the fact that I missed lunch today.
I also ended up having heartburn half way through the workout which isn’t fun at all when you’re trying to do pushups and the Ab Ripper X workout. I think the problem of having a “rest” day from eating healthy like I had yesterday is that it affects your performance the next day. I didn’t like how I felt today so I think I’m going to try really hard to stick with eating healthy next Sunday.
Either way, I definitely brought the intensity I needed into this workout and after the workout I felt so strong. I’ve been feeling a lot stronger lately even though it’s only been two weeks on the program. My biceps feel so much fuller, my stomach is feeling smaller, my abs are feeling stronger, etc. It feels great!
Dinner
For dinner today, my wife cooked spaghetti with a really meaty sauce that tasted phenomenal. I devoured the dinner, especially since I missed lunch but now that I’ve punched in my nutritional info into my software I realized that there is a lot of calories in spaghetti. I’m going to have to stick more closely to my P90X diet if I hope to lose some of the fat around my gut.
I also tried out a couple of new protein bars today. They tasted pretty decent. I think I’m going to create a page with some info on supplements and reviews on bars I’ve tried and their nutritional info. I have been talking to a few people about the different supplements and protein bars I’m using on this program, and I think it would be better to just document it on my Blog and refer them to it.
My nutritional stats for today are:
Calories: 2641
Fat: 58 grams
Carbs: 386 grams
Protein: 139 grams

Wow nice blog, I came across it when I was searching for p90x blogs, I just started two days ago….tough workout….I like your food pics…its making me starving!
@LJ: Thanks! I like taking pics of my food because it makes me want to cook more, knowing that when I don’t I don’t have content to put on my Blog.
How are you liking the program so far? By the way, the first two days are the hardest, hehe. Especially Plyometrics. After that, things get a bit easier and by the time you get to day 6 (Kenpo-X) it’s pretty easy.
