How To Make Delicious Chicken Breast in 15 Minutes

Written by Paul Piotrowski - Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Here’s a really easy way that I make delicious tasting chicken breast in 15 minutes.  My wife figured out this simple way to make plain chicken breast taste really good.  It’s so easy even I can do it.  Once you see how easy it is, you’ll make some too.

Firstly, I pre-heat my countertop, electric grill to medium heat.

Secondly, I take two boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thawed) and rub Club House – “Montreal Chicken” spice/seasoning mix on them.  This is what the seasoning mix looks like.  You should be able to pick it up at your grocery store (or at least something similar):

Throw the two chicken breasts on the grill and let them grill for about 8-12 minutes (maybe longer) depending on the temperature of your grill and the thickness of your chicken breasts.  I normally cut into the thickest part of the chicken breast to make sure the chicken is cooked.  When chicken breast cooks, it turns from pink to white in color so you should see no pink in the center of the breast when it’s cooked.  The top and bottom should begin turning brown.  (Close the lid on the grill of course, I just have it up for the picture :) )

Next, what I do is I take my food scale and I measure my chicken breasts to know how much I will be putting into my recipes.  When you use a food scale, don’t put food on top of the scale itself as you’ll drive yourself nuts trying to keep it clean all the time.

Instead do this:

(1) Turn on the scale.  Wait for it to zero out.

(2) Put a plate on top of the scale, which will of course register some weight.  Hit the ZERO button on your scale to zero out the scale with the plate on top.  That’s what that zero button is for.

(3) Throw your chicken breast on top of the scale and voila, you have yourself a perfectly cooked, delicious chicken breast that weighs exactly 3oz.

Here’s the both of them weighing 7.5oz.

You can now use the chicken breast in your recipes, such as for example over top of a nice salad, and it won’t taste so plain because the “Montreal Chicken” spice gives it a nice, delicious flavor.

You can also pre-cook a bunch of these chicken breasts ahead of time and just store them in the fridge and then pull them out when you need them for a salad, or a meal.

By the way, the nutritional stats per chicken breasts are approximately:

  • Calories: 210
  • Fat: 2 grams
  • Carbs: 2 grams
  • Protein: 44 grams

Some chicken breast pieces are slightly smaller than others (as you can clearly see in the picture), so the stats may not be exact but you’re getting 80% of your calories from protein without a lot of fat which makes chicken breast a much cleaner protein source than red meat.  Not only that, but they taste so good! :)
