P90X – Day 9 – Plyometrics

Written by Paul Piotrowski - Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Today was Plyometrics training day again, which I believe is the hardest workout in the P90X system.  I started off doing really well with the training as my cardio endurance has improved since last week, but unfortunately about half way through the training I tweaked my knee a bit during one of the jumping sequences.

I’ve had problems with my right knee for years now and once in a while it just acts up for a few days to a week or so and then goes away.  Last year when I started jogging for 3 months, my knee did the same thing to me the first week jogging but after a while it got better.

There is another video in the P90X program called “Cardio X” which you can substitute for the Plyometrics training which involves jumping.  If my knee isn’t feeling better by the next time I have to do Plyometrics a week from now, I’m going to swap out my Plyometrics training for Cardio X instead so as not to aggravate the knee any worse.

Besides the issue with the knee, the workout went fine and I felt in better shape today than I was in last week.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Below are some quick snapshots of the foods I ate today.  For breakfast I had a strawberry, peach, banana, protein smoothie.  For lunch I had a chef salad with chicken breast meat in it, and for dinner I made a salmon / vegetable stir-fry with a bit of brown rice.

I also had my recovery drink, a protein bar and some pistachio nuts for snacks.

  3. Paul Piotrowski says:

@Steve: Thanks Steve! I know what you mean about Plyo. It’s one of my least favorite workouts. Especially since last time I slightly injured my knee during it. However, once I finish Plyo, I always feel so good having survived it.

When did you start P90X yourself?
