P90X – Day 8 – Chest and Back
Today I began the second week of the P90X program. I’m going to shorten up my daily posts, since there will be a lot of repetition if I don’t, but I’ll try to just touch on the highlights of each day and show any pictures of food I’ve taken during the day. Then, I’m also going to start writing other posts that are not daily reports to talk about P90X, and fitness and nutrition in general.
Breakfast – Egg and Mushroom Scramble, Cottage Cheese & Grapefruit

This morning I was supposed to have a slightly different breakfast, but I only had one egg left in the fridge so I had to improvise a bit. Instead of using 8oz of egg whites, I just used one whole egg to make the mushroom scramble. Instead of strawberries, I had a grapefruit.
The Workout – Chest and Back
Today was the beginning of a new week, so we are now repeating the same workout schedule as last week. Doing the Chest and Back workout video today was much better than last week. I felt a lot stronger on a lot of the exercises, but I did run into a small snag.
Almost right at the beginning, while doing some standard push-ups, I did something to my upper chest muscle to kind of tweak it. It kind of feels like a muscle cramp on one of the muscles that make up the pecs. It made it a bit painful trying to do pushups from that point forward, so I had to modify some of the exercises to relieve tension from that area. Everything workout out fine though and I was really happy with the workout today.
My upper back got a good workout today too and when I was out grocery shopping this evening I noticed that my posture felt a lot better. I wasn’t walking around so slouched back. I was just naturally feeling my shoulders pulling back a bit more. It’s neat how strength training can improve your posture like that.
Dinner – Chicken, Brown Rice and Green/Yellow Beans
I had to figure out a quick dinner tonight because I had to do the grocery shopping for the week, so I bought a roast chicken at the supermarket, and made some brown rice and green/yellow beans. I was really hungry because I skipped lunch and just had a protein bar instead, so dinner tasted really good.
I’m really starting to crave really simple foods like this. Meaning, just eating plain chicken breast, plain brown rice, veggies etc. tastes good to me. I’m not needing to smother them in sauces, gravies or anything like that. In case you’re wondering, I didn’t eat the skin on the drumstick either. I peeled it off and just at the meat underneath.
I had a few other small things like a protein bar, a fruit puree cup and of course my recovery drink after the workout, but that’s pretty much it for food today.
