5 Critical Mistakes You're Making as an Affiliate Marketer

Written by Paul Piotrowski - Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

As many of you know, a big part of my income right now comes from PPC affiliate marketing.  Last month I did over $10,000 in revenue with about $2,500 in profit after expenses.  I know that isn’t a massive amount, but it was really the first month I actually had a chance to focus on my affiliate marketing full time, and that number doesn’t include income from non-PPC affiliate stuff or any referral commissions or Blog income etc.  Would you like to make $2,500 profit in your first month of PPC affiliate marketing?

How did I do this?  Well, there are no real “secrets” out there.  In the beginning, there is a lot of learning and a lot of hard work involved in making money as a PPC affiliate marketer, but the biggest problem is that there is so much misinformation out there that confuses people and you can lose a lot of money to Google AdWords before you ever make a profit if you’re not following some kind of proven system.  I tried a lot of different systems out there, but the one that finally made things work for me is PPC Classroom 2.0.

I joined their program and it’s really good.  There is a lot of support there from coaches and forum members to help you all the way from getting your first profitable campaign online to making the big bucks as an affiliate.  Their program is really good, but unfortunately it’s been closed to new members for months now.  They are planning to re-open the program for a short period of time later on this month, and today I got an email from them about a Free report they are offering on How to Avoid the 5 Deadliest Mistakes that Keep 98% of Affilates Dead Broke.

If you’re a PPC Affilite Marketer, or even thinking about getting into it, check out the free report.  Anything Amit Mehta writes is definitely worth a read.  Maybe it will help you tweak a couple of things to blast by everyone else in the Inspired Affiliate Marketing Challenge which ends on the 14th of this month. :)

do you know if they only take a limited number of people? On the website, I don’t see any page to sign up just yet. I don’t want to miss out this time.

  2. @Benny: Yes, it is a limited time thing and I believe they are only letting in a certain number of people. You definitely do NOT want to miss out on this if you’re interested in Affiliate Marketing. I believe the release date will be Feb 24th if I’m not mistaken. I’ll write a post once I know more, but the safest thing to do is to get on their list by downloading this free report that I mention in the article.

I can’t wait to see what kind of new goodies they come up with for the new release. Also I think I’m going to go through the whole training for the 3rd time this week because it’s so good.

I haven’t really been focusing on PPC a lot. Maybe because I like flipping websites, and driving traffic via Search Engines, but I believe that PPC is the ultimate way how to make big money, then again, only if you know how.

So far I have been using “PPC Coach”. So far it seems good, and provides great tips and guides.

    Cheers.

Is the income you earned from your focused PPC efforts last month from narrowing in on a few niche campaigns like one of the videos suggest or from”hot” offers that tend to be saturated and more expensive, yet also more rewarding?

Thanks a lot for this awesome post. I had decided to join the program and hoping it works the way you explained.

  7. @MLChelsea: No, I try not to chase hot offers. :)
