Latest News: Is Your SubID Tracking Broken Today?

Written by Paul Piotrowski - Monday, December 8th, 2008

Although this is totally unconfirmed, there may be a bug in the Direct Track system that affiliate networks are running causing problems with subID tracking in campaigns .  I noticed this on the weekend while trying to get some subID reports done for some of my campaigns and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working properly.

During the weekend I was messaged by a couple of people having the same problem.  At first I thought it was just with one affiliate network, but then I checked a couple of my other accounts with networks that use Direct Track software and it seems that all of my accounts are no longer tracking subID reports properly.

Sales are still being tracked it seems, but when you go to your subID reports it isn’t displaying the conversions in the report, so there is no way to track which of your keywords are converting.  This may not be a bug that affects all of the campaigns you’re running, but on mine it seems to be affecting all of the ones I’m running even though I haven’t touched anything to break things.

If it was just in my account, or if I changed something I would think maybe it’s just me, but several other people have reported problems so I think it’s a much larger scale problem.

Check your accounts, run your reports and see if your subID stats are adding up.  Remember to only run reports for the last couple of days as it seemed to have broken itself around Saturday or Sunday.

Anyone else care to confirm this problem?

If it’s really a bug across all the networks, this could really mess up your PPC stats.  I hope they get it fixed soon.

I just wrote about it on my blog as well to get the word spreading around. Hopefully they get it fixed soon, this is part of the reason why I’m losing your affiliate marketing contest. :P I don’t want to just lose lose lose without being able to cancel out non-converting keywords.
