Inspired Profile: The Tumblestone Emporium

Written by Paul Piotrowski - Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

I decided to start a series of Blog posts where I profile some examples of what I believe to be “Inspired Money Makers” who I run into in my day to day activities.  In some cases it’s an individual, in some cases it’s a group of individuals running a business, but in all cases it’s someone who I feel is inspired to do what they do.

Hopefully by profiling some of these people, it will help to spark your imaginations to see that there really are a lot of different ways to make money out there and maybe it will inspire you to find your “Inspired Path”.

It’s 2am right now and I was sitting here trying to come up with an idea for an article, when I noticed that I had a small polished Lepidolite Stone sitting on my desk.  I bought it about a week ago and I was just reading the description of what it does and it says that it “Activates the throat Chakra…” amongst other things.  The Throat Chakra is used in communicating which is what I need to activate when I write my Blog posts, so I took the stone out of the little bag it was in and held it in my hands to see if an idea would pop into my mind.

Sure enough I had this idea to start this series of articles.  I thought the best place to start would be to profile the very place where I bought the stone – The Tumblestone Emporium.  I am not 100% sure that I have the owners name right, but I believe her name is Terry.  I was in the store about a week ago with my wife and I just loved the place.

I have never been to a store that sells stones and crystals because I’ve never been into that kind of stuff before, but as soon as we walked in there with my wife I could tell that the place had very good energy.  My wife was looking for something very specific and the lady (and I’m assuming owner) was super helpful in helping her find what she was looking for.  While they were talking I took the time to look around and found these cool little Tumbled Healing Gemstones in all kinds of cool colors with little tags saying what they are supposed to do.  They were only about a dollar each, so I decided to pick some up just for fun.

What I found very interesting is that this store makes money by selling stones.  This means that Terry must have woken up one day and had the idea to open up a store selling stones.  Now, obviously there is a lot more to these stones and crystals then I know about, but if you had that idea, would you follow it or would you think it’s stupid and impractical?

Now I don’t know how well Terry’s business is going for her, but I do know that when I was there the place felt like it had a really positive energy and she seemed to be really enjoying what she was doing.  Perhaps the biggest clue that she loves what she does can be found on the Contact Us page of her website where she lists her store hours as:

Store Hours:
Open Most Days About 9 or 10;
Occasionally as Early as 7,
But SOME DAYS as Late as 12 or 1.
WE CLOSE About 5:30 or 6;
Occassionally About 4 or 5,
But Sometimes as Late as 11 or 12.
SOME DAYS OR AFTERNOONS,
We Aren’t Here At All,
And Lately I’ve Been Here Just
About All The Time,
Except When I’m Someplace Else,
But I Should Be Here Then, Too.

  1. In my opinion, one is an Inspired money maker means that he make money through doing what he really loves. He pour the business all of his love and compared with the love, money is only a certain result.

    I agree with you about the positive energy you felt in that store. Love has its own energy which can propagate and infect people around it.

    Thank you very much for sharing this story and I am looking forward to the next.

    The only thing that’s missing under the Store Hours is, “If you come here and we’re not here, call us and we’ll be right here.” I’ve never seen anyone put hours like they do, and I absolutely love it! You can just feel how much they love what they’re doing.

    I’m very conscious about the energy in stores. Sometimes I just have to leave immediately because it’s just suffocating. And I keep coming back to establishments with people who love what they do and it shows.

    I look forward to more of the series!
