Inspired Affiliate vs Richard Bonner Contest / Competition

Written by Paul Piotrowski - Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

I’m super excited to announce a cool little contest / competition I’m going to be running with Richard Bonner for the month of September.

Richard is a newbie affiliate marketer just like myself and we’ve decided to run a "friendly" competition for the month of September to help us keep focused on our affiliate marketing efforts and to reward our loyal readers with some prizes.

After spying browsing through a few articles on Richard’s Blog , I realized that we’re pretty much at the same place in our Affiliate Marketing careers.  Meaning, we’re both still stumbling through learning how this whole thing works and trying to build up some income and hopefully some profits from Affiliate Marketing.

To make things a little bit more interesting, we’ve decided to run a competition for the month of September to see who is capable of earning the most amount of Revenues from their Affiliate Efforts.  The reason we chose revenues and not profits is because profitability is not *the* most important goal for both of us right now with our affiliate efforts.  Sometimes you need to invest a little bit of money to make money, and right now is the time for us to worry about growing our revenues and not necessarily profits (yet).

Of course I am also going to be watching my bottom line as profitability is always a goal, but for the purposes of this competition, it is simply the person who generates the most revenue that wins the contest.

Prizes, Prizes, Prizes!

So what does the winner get?  Well, the winner gets to give away three prizes on his Blog for which the loser pays.  So really, when I win the contest it really means that my readers will have a chance to win one of the three prizes and Bonner is just going to have to fork up the money to pay for them.  How great is that?!

How you can win a prize:

All you have to do to win a prize is show your support for me by leaving a comment on this post with a few words of encouragement and sign up for my newsletter below to receive updates from my Blog as the contest unfolds over the next month.

Everyone who signs up gets an automatic entry into the contest and once the contest is over, assuming I win the competition, I will do a random draw from everyone who signed up and three random winners will win prizes.

By putting in your name and email address below, you’re showing your support, registering your name for the random draw and signing up for my Inspired Affiliate newsletter.  I will never spam you and you may unsubscribe after the contest if you wish.  Only subscribed and confirmed subscribers will be eligible to win.  Go ahead, sign up now:

So what kind of prizes are up for grabs?  Well, to be honest we haven’t fully decided on the exact prizes we’ll want to do yet.  We’ve set a budget and I think each of us will pick different prizes for our own Blog.  I’ll finalize the prizes for my Blog in the next few days and write a post about it so everyone knows what’s up for grabs.

We will be posting regular updates on the contest several times a week to keep everyone up to speed on what’s happening and who’s winning.

  1. Just thought I’de drop by and say good luck for the competition – At least you’ve got the rest of the month to gather the money for the prizes that will be given out over at my blog :)

  2. @Bonner: Ha! Better start saving your beer money Bonner. When this competition is over, I’m getting you a T-Shirt that says two words… EPIC FAIL. :)

  3. Patrick says:

A great idea here, very interested to see how this all comes out. I wish you would have based it on profits though, but I do see your reasoning.

Another idea would be to specify a category of products to limit you both to, something outside both of your niches….that might have been a neat twist.

Anyway, good luck to both and keep us posted!

  4. @Patrick: Right now, I don’t have a “niche” yet. I’m basically very much just at the testing phase. So we’ll need to keep it as broad as possible for this first competition.

    Should be fun!

  5. Bart says:

Great competition you guys are having, I can’t wait to hear what the prizes are.

  6. Nice idea to have the stats in the navigation Paul, it can let all your readers know how far I’m ahead of you and who they should be backing ;)

  7. @Bonner: It ain’t over until the fat lady sings. I’m still doing my stretches and warm-ups, and it looks like you’re already running full blast.

  8. Elijah says:

Richard, to be honest, I don’t even know you – but I do know that Paul is the man.. period. So that is enough for me to say boo for you, and yay for him…

Nothing personal of course.. well it can be, if you want it to.

  9. Elijah says:

Even though I don’t have the prizes in my hand at this very moment, my desire to want the prizes tells myself that I have already won them.

Wanting and having seems to be working thus far.
