This is an excellent article Paul and your distinction between 'wantingness' and 'havingness' is spot on. The former clearly carries the energy of 'lack' while the latter offers the energy of contentment and gratitude.

In my intentioning, I have had to make another distinction - that one can be content and grateful and still be moved and motivated by the creative energy of our limitless potential! That creative energy is essentially what we are and it seeks expression. In other words, contentment does not at mean coming to a standstill and creative expression is how we naturally are!

Thanks for an excellent post!

Thanks Paul I really like this distinction. And it feels so much better to act from a place of contentment.

Things have been really "flowing" for me in the last few days. Things are coming together, pieces falling into place. I attribute it to my new found focus on this distinction of aligning my thoughts and feelings, and understanding the difference between "havingness" and "wantingness".

I think that we have a difficult time "having" things vs "wanting things" because we have a difficult time believing. It is very easy for us to say things like "I want a new Lamborghini" or "I want to build a new home" because wanting doesn't involve any FAITH.

It is quite different to say and BELIEVE these things when we cannot see them. This is the cornerstone of nearly every personal development and wealth creation philosophy.

There is a little book called "As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen. I THINK it can be downloaded for free at www.asamanthinketh.net but I've never tried. It is a classic and is definitely worth a read at least once per year.

Faith - The substance of things hoped for. The evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

Sorry to ramble

Great article Paul.

It's important to understand if your wants are just that. Wants. Needs aside, how much crap do we "manifest" off of Ebay only to turn around and re-list it. I came up with a great saying about 20 years ago. It seems "We don't really want what we DON'T have nearly as much as what we think we CAN'T have." That makes it sort of a self defeating intention. It's sort of like Woody Allen's belief that He would never want to be a member of a club that would have him as a member. It's so true. Don't believe me? Look at how many people seek infidelity. They want what they can't have. And what's intriguing is that, the wanting is usually more enjoyable than the recieving.

What we want the most are the things we believe we can't get without the help of a miracle. That's what makes them so desirable. The things that we KNOW we can have are not nearly as attractive to us therefore more attractable. It's a Catch 22. However;

I believe anything is possible if it can be imagined.

I have set a goal, and I "know" I will accomplish that goal by any means necessary. We can also connect the "havingness" with aligned thinking and thought manifestation relating back to your last post. Recognizing the difference between the "I want" and the "I have" will determine the difference between definite success and dreams of being successful.

I so needed to be reminded of this universal truth. You have explained it simply and clearly, making the distinction between wantingness and havingness very easy to understand.

Many times I have manifested what I wanted in my life because I was always sure that I would get it. With some things, however, I have more difficult feeling that havingness. Fortunately I know from experience that when I can deeply believe and visualize myself having what I want, it'll show up in my life.
