@Seamus Anthony: Some of them report it right on their Advertise page. Others you have to use other indicators such as RSS Subscriber number, Alexa Rating etc.

@~L: The type of visitors I attract are people who are seeking ways to move out of working at “jobs” and into making money doing what they love. Some are interested in career changes, while others are simply looking for ways to make more money. Some of my visitors already know how to make money (sometimes good money), but they are now seeking something more fulfilling not just trading hours for dollars.

As far as number of advertisements, I’m definitely going to keep the 125×125 squares down to a maximum of 8. There are 6 right now, which I might increase to 8 if the demand is there, but no more then that. Outside of those, the other advertising slots are already on the site just not fully filled. You can see a picture at the bottom of my advertise page of all the slots available.

@Elijah: Yup, two $5/w slots are sold out now. The next 125×125 slot sells for $10, and then I’m raising the next one to $20 and then $40 etc.

@Seamus: Stats are hard to come by because people keep them close to their chest.

However, all it takes in a few hours with an Excel spreadsheet and visiting a few Blogs out there to see what their rates are. For example, it’s not hard to go check out what a few top Blogs charge for a 125×125 Banner, and then divide that price by the number of Unique Visitors or Page Views for example, to get some ratio’s.

Also, another indicator I look at is commenting on Blogs. Some Blogs get traffic but their comments are weak…meaning, their audience is non-responsive. Ultimately, you kind of have to do your own research and then follow it up with testing to see what will work for you. Each Blog has a different audience and even if one is more expensive than another, it may be the perfect audience you’re looking for.

The secret is to test.

Hey very cool to see some stats on advertising costs:traffic numbers. Do you know where I can get some more information about average advertising prices and the relation this has to traffic numbers on both popular blogs and other online publications? It would be handy to know what people charge across the board.

They $5 a week pricing is right on! Great idea, and I can see the $10/week doing well for you. It’s all about options for the buyers, and having a more flexible price point will increase your ad sales.

Interesting read. This is the first blog of yours I have read. So my apologies for these extra two questions.

1) While I see the stats regarding unique monthly visitors, I’d like further information about these visitors please. Such as what types of info. they are searching for when they find and proceed to your blogs?

2) Also, will you divulge the maximum number of ads you will place on each blog?

I’d like to have this information also to consider moving forward with a banner ad. Thanks much.
