Getting Some Help from the Universe with Synchronicity
One of the most frustrating places to be in life is actually not being “stuck” in one place without any opportunity for change, but rather being “stuck” in a dilemma where there are multiple paths in front of you and you have no idea which path to choose.
As an Inspired Money Maker, this could mean trying to make a decision as to whether to invest in some sort of course or mentorship program, or which of the multiple projects to get started on first, or when to make the decision to quit your job, or any number of important decisions that need to be made at the right time.
If life were simple, and it was just about a single decision which had a clear benefit in one direction and no benefit in the other direction, it would be really simple to pick the right path and go with it. In real life, however, we’re presented with multiple paths, each with certain benefits and costs and consequences, and a lot of interdependency in between each of the choices we face every day.
For example, you may be presented with a project that you know feels right, but you don’t yet have the financial resources to take it on, and in order to come up with the resources you’ll need to work some extra hours at your job for a while, but that also means that you’ll have less time to work on another part of your life that’s very important to you that you just got into balance such as your health and fitness or something like that.
It’s almost like life becomes this mishmash of multiple decisions with multiple paths, each with it’s own benefits and costs, and even if you know which path you want to take eventually, there’s still the decision as to when is the ideal time to go down that path. For example, you may already know that you want to completely re-vamp your diet and start exercising every day. Should you start doing that right now though, as in today, or wait until after the holidays? Or start on January 1st? or wait until you’re finished this huge project you’re working on at work which will be done at the end of January?
If it was just about this one decision, it may be pretty simple to see that there will always be excuses that pop up so starting now is the only choice as there will always be something else that pops up and delays the process. But what if it’s not as simple as that? What if you’ve got like 30 of these life-changing things that you need to get going on like changing your diet, starting a fitness plan, working out your relationship issues with your kids, deciding whether or not to co-partner in a large business with a friend, deciding whether to get the major fixes done on your car, or to just trade it in for a new one, and two dozen other decisions that all need deciding, all interconnected, all co-dependent on each other.
To make matters worse, some of he decisions may involve other people’s input and decision making as well. For example, you may not know what your business partner, kids, spouse, or boss thinks about one of the decisions you’re trying to make and their input will have an impact on your decision making process.
Life can get complicated, which is why sometimes it is great to get a little help from the Universe, as I call it. What I mean by that is to ask for some divine guidance from the Universe, or your True Self, or God, or whatever it is that you call your “Divine Being” in your particular faith.
One of the coolest ways that this works is when you have synchronistic moments that help you on your path, almost like a wink from Divinity telling you that you’ve made the right choice. A synchronistic event is basically a co-incidence in life that has an implied meaning to you, giving you the answer to a question you had, while simultaneously providing “proof” that it came from “higher power” due to the very high improbability of it simply being a co-incidence.
The term “synchronicity” was originally coined by a Swiss psychologist named Carl Jung which he described as a “meaningful co-incidence”. I have had a number of really crazy synchronistic events happen in my life that totally fried my brain in terms of the impossibly minute probability that the event was just a co-incidence. Until one experiences such events, it is easy for us to dismiss them as a simple co-incidence.
A few years back when I first started learning about synchronicity from books by Deepak Chopra, Carl Jung and such, I was studying this stuff with a friend of mine and we started to notice really strange synchronistic events. We kind of wanted to test this stuff to see if it’s real or if it’s just co-incidence and people are reading into it. So we kind of set an intention and told “the Universe” to send us signals that this stuff is real.
Things started to get really weird for a while and we started to see really crazy stuff. For example one day I was driving back from lunch with my friend and he told me that he read a really good book called “Illusions” which talks about this kind of stuff and he said that I definitely need to read the book. We approached an intersection and a stop sign so I stopped. I asked him “What’s the book about?” and right then, he pointed to my left and said “Look!” and right then a big truck drove by with a giant sticker on his front windshield at the top that said “ILLUSIONS”. Co-incidence? You decide.
We still weren’t really totally convinced so we kept asking “the Universe” for an even stronger symbol. We always talked about all the books we were reading on this stuff and how each one was taking us closer towards “solving the rubiks cube”, kind of like solving some sort of universal puzzle.
Then, one day my friend walked into my office at work and said “Never mind solving the rubiks cube, this book I just read totally shattered the rubiks cube into pieces.” I suggested to him that instead of talking about it in my office, we should walk down to a nearby park which was a few blocks away from our offices to take a break from work and talk about this. He agreed and a couple of minutes later we were walking down the street towards the park. What happened next totally fried our brains. We were walking and talking about synchronicity and all this stuff, and how it’s all so weird but really neat at the same time, when we both stopped dead in our tracks and looked at the sidewalk in front of us.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking on the subject of consciousness and I really do think the future is pulling the past. You will probably recognise that there have always been patterns in your mind. Future desires and events influence past and present thinking.
Very nice article Paul. I enjoyed reading it, and thinking about the synchronicities in my experience.
Btw, did the article end abruptly? What did you see on the sidewalk in front of you? What fried your brains? What happened next?
Please do tell.
