Believing is Seeing
I’m sure at some point in your life you’ve heard the saying “Seeing is believing,” right? Well, I’m going to challenge you today to change that belief to “Believing is seeing.” or even “I’ll see it when I believe it.”
Why is this an important distinction? Because, if you believe that you must see something first before you believe it to be true, then you are automatically limiting your awareness only to things that are already in your life right now. You’re essentially cutting off your connection to your imagination and anything that cannot be perceived by your five senses. For example, lets say that you currently earn $2,000/month at your present job. Now let’s say that you are at a motivational seminar and the speaker says that everyone in the room is capable of earning $10,000/month or more. If your belief system says “I’ll believe it when I see it.” then you are automatically (subconsciously) registering the information as a false statement from the speaker because you have NOT SEEN yourself making $10,000/month yet so how can you believe it?
The challenge with this belief is that it creates a very real and powerful limiter on what you are able to believe, limiting you to only believe that which you already see right now. It then becomes very difficult to believe in yourself, others as well as any goals you might set for your future. For example, lets say that you do set a goal to be making $10,000/month within the next 12 months. In order for you to really begin pursuing this goal, you must at least believe it is possible for you to earn this much money. However, if you’ve got this “I’ll believe it when I see it.” record playing in your head, it’s going to be very hard to believe that $10,000/month is a possibility for you.
What this does is that it dooms you to live a life where not a lot of change ever happens, except by accident. For example, if you somehow fluked out and accidentally made $10,000 one month, then it may now become believable for you to accept that it’s possible to make $10,000/month because you’ve seen it.
A Better Alternative
Here’s what I would suggest as a better alternative. Change your belief to be “I’ll see it when I believe it.” Essentially, all you’re saying is that (1) Everything you see right now in your life, you believe that it’s possible for it to exist, and (2) If you want to see any kind of change in your life, your belief in that change must precede you seeing that change.
In other words, you must first believe that it’s possible for you to make $10,000/month before you will see yourself making $10,000/month. This is a much more empowering system of thinking because it is more aligned with reality. Before we are able to see things in our lives, we must first believe that they are possible.
If you want to see yourself dating a girl you like, first get yourself to believe that it’s possible for you to date her. Only then will you be able to date her. If you believe it’s impossible for you to date her, then you will never do whatever is required to date her. Even if she were to walk up to you and ask you out on a date, you would say “No.” because you’d probably think it’s some kind of mean practical joke.
Yeah, But How Can We Believe Things We Haven’t Seen Yet?
The solution here is to see your current situation realistically, and then convince yourself that it is possible for the situation to be slightly better. For example, lets say you decide to time yourself to see how long it takes you to run a mile. Lets say it takes you 17 minutes on your first try. Well, at this point it is very easy to believe that you can run a mile in 17 minutes because you just did it right? Well, if you just ran a mile in 17 minutes, do you think it’s possible for you to run a mile in….lets say…. 16 minutes? I’m sure you could convince yourself of that possibility right? It’s just a slightly faster pace than 17 minutes, right? OK, well if you can get yourself to believe that the next time you run a mile you’ll be able to do it in 16 minutes, then you’ll begin to do whats necessary to achieve that.
Before your workout, you may remember to hydrate yourself properly. Perhaps when you were at the mall you saw a pair of running shoes that offer you better support. Perhaps you get a bit more rest before your run. The point is that you are now believing that you can run a 16 minute mile, and so you will most likely run a 16 minute mile. You may not believe that you can run a mile in 8 minutes yet, but going from 17 minutes to 16 minutes is not such a giant leap of faith is it?
This is what I suggest you do with everything you want in your life. Let’s say that you are currently working at a job making $5,000/month, and you’re trying to become an Inspired Money Maker by starting your own business from home. It may be hard to believe that you can earn $5,000 right away, but would it be difficult to believe that you can earn $10 in one month with your business? How about $50? How about $100 or $250? Start with whatever number that you can honestly believe you can accomplish and go for achieving that. Even if your starting point is to make your first $5 with your new business.
The main point here is to start to consciously make decisions on what you decide to believe. Tell yourself what you believe will happen. Stretch your beliefs. Only then will you see them come true in your life.
One Other Alternative
There is one little alternative you could also use here. If you’re having a tough time switching from “I’ll believe it when I see it” to “I’ll see it when I believe it”, you can try this out: “I’ll believe it when I see it in my mind.”
This essentially states that you’ll believe it when you’re able to visualize yourself already having, being or doing whatever it is that you’re trying to believe. So if you’re making $5,000/month right now and you want to get yourself to believe that it’s possible to make $10,000/month then close your eyes and visualize yourself making the $10,000/month and SEE IT. Once you SEE IT in your mind, you’ll be able to believe it. And once you believe it, it’s just a matter of time before it comes true.
Now you just need to get yourself to believe that you can be an Inspired Money Maker.

Good evening, Happy April Fool’s Day!!!
Everybody on earth dies and goes to heaven. God comes and says “I want the men to make two lines. One line for the men that dominated their women on earth and the other line for the men that were whipped by their women. Also, I want all the women to go with St. Peter.”
Said and done, the next time God looks the women are gone and there are two lines. The line of the men that were whipped was 100 miles long, on the line of men that dominated women there was only one man.
God got mad and said, “You men should be ashamed of yourselves. I created you in my image, and you were all whipped by your mates. Look at the only one of my sons that stood up and made me proud, learn from him! Tell them my son how did you manage to be the only one on that line?”
The man said, “I don’t know. My wife told me to stand here.”
Happy April Fool’s Day!
@Olene: LOL.
